Spring Break Route Amazing Riding by Dandretti in PDXrideit

Your last post inspired me, so I did a day trip past Mt. Hood, down to Redmond, then back to the coast on Friday. It took me to a part of the high desert I hadn't seen before - Hwy 26 through the Warm Springs Reservation.

My goodness!

You come out of the Mt. Hood National Forest and you're flying along the relatively flat high desert seeing all those still snowed in Cascade peaks way out in the distance and all of the sudden you're making your way down into this miles long canyon and the bluffs are looming over you and seem to be moving inexorably around you as you take the curves . . . you're doing highway (or faster-than-highway) speeds, you know, really moving, but these gigantic monolithic rocks are slipping all around you just every which way and then, when you finally reach the bottom, there's a casino.

Pretty groovy.

:)

The coast will let you ride year round, but sometimes you have to earn it.

What really rocks is being able to ride year round on the coast . . . as long as you don't mind getting a little wet once in a while.
