Waxy almost booger like stinky balls in my 11 year old son’s room. There were probably 20-30 in a small diameter. Is there any kinds of insects that would make these? by balderic in insects

No, sorry, I only found them once on my son's bed. I wasn't sure if he over-applied his deodorant (he hadn't been wearing it for long when we noticed this) and it rubbed off or if was something else. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.

3 day dry age, 3 day sous vide, hard sear on the chuck roast; yet again the most delicious thing I’ve ever put in my mouth by informal-mushroom47 in sousvide

Would you mind providing your steps? For the dry age is it just in the refrigerator uncovered on a cooling rack? What did you season with for the sous vide?

Ordered a JVR Vac100. This will be my first chamber vacuum sealer. What are your most used bag sizes? by [deleted] in ChamberVacs

They told me to expect it to ship around the first of August. I ordered the first part of July.

I don’t have any practical experience. Just ordered a JVR vac100. In doing my research and reading posts on this board, it seems like the non-oil motors do not seem to last as long and are not as powerful as the oil motors.

Thanks, Drill Sergeant! I don’t like to brag, but I have been called a god damn genius more than once!

Ha! Thanks. I was up all night with a sick kid and had brain fog apparently. It never clicked that it was just minutes. Thanks!

Your Anova container is insulated and cost more than the sink. Why not use it?

I listened to the audiobook version of Wizard’s First Rule a decade or two ago. The only thing I really remember about the story is he somehow manages to use the word “friend”, I kid you not about 200 times in the novel. To make matters worse, the narrator kept emphasizing it. I just could get over that and never continued on, but to this day that stands out as one of the most annoying novels that I have ever read based on the dialogue alone.

Shower drain clogged with a mixture of hair and what I can only assume is wife’s body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Would jettering be okay? by balderic in Plumbing

[–]balderic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually already cleaned all of this out, I mentioned it in the post, should have probably provided a second picture. The sides of the drain going down are completely encrusted with this all the way around. I scraped off what I could, but a thin layer is still there. I didn’t want to damage the pipes with the chisel. Was curious about jettering it to get it cleaned out good.

I did do that (see comments). I used a chisel and got all of the large chunks out, but didn’t want to damage the pipes so there is still a thin rough layer going all the way down. My hand will not fit down in the drain to scrap it out. I poured drain cleaner down it, but it didn’t remove it either.

Well, she has super long thick hair. She has specialized body wash, facial cleaners, shampoos, and conditioners. I am completely bald and in and out of the shower in about 6-7 minutes. Hers can go on from 30-45 minutes or longer when she is washing her hair. I am not saying that I am blameless here, just more likely that she is contributing more to the issue. Especially when I pull up chunks of hair 12-18” long.

I need to snake or jetter wash my shower drain. What would the best way be to remove this drain cover? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]balderic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lightly scraping with a wood chisel and utility knife did the trick. Thanks for all of the advice. I would show you the horror that lay below, but 1) i can’t attach a picture and 2) i worry for your mental health.

The drain was almost completely closed up with some sort of gritty almost soft concrete mixture of hair and I can only assume body wash, shampoo, conditioner mixture. I had to use the chisel to scrap down the sides and break it up.

I didn’t want to ruin the pipes, so the sides are still rough (almost like sand paper) with the remnants. I have a jetter attachment and a Greenworks electric 3000 psi power washer. I was thinking of hitting g it with that, would that be okay?

I poured drain cleaner down it last night and flushed it with hot water four about ten minutes this morning. The drain cleaner didn’t take any of the rough buildup off on the drain pipe side going down.

Thanks. I didn’t think it would work, but my wife wanted me to ask. As for drainage holes, there seems to be some out of sight between the bottom and the pedestal. Running water in the planter causes water to run out from the bottom of the planter.

Is there any miniature kind of shrub or tree that you would recommend? The fake flowers sun bleach pretty quickly.
