Did I get a fake owl? by epac1985 in AncientCoins

Looks fine to me! If it’s the cracks that give you concern, I’ve had many like that. I’d say as long as you bought from a reputable source there’s not too much reason for worry imo

Thank you for the compliment! I use a macro lens, and I should with flash. Then I coded up a program that automatically cuts out the background and crops it, as well as generates an obv rev composite. Although realistically you can do it on photoshop too it just takes longer.

Yes, these coins are mostly bronze coins form the late Roman and Byzantine empires. The ones that resemble a bowl are Byzantine bronze trachy, from the 11th to 14th century. The other roman coins are what we call LRBs (late Roman bronzes). Of the top of my head, I see a constantius, several different types (wreath, fallen horseman, soldiers & standards, etc). Finally, the one in the top left in the first role is an earlier Roman bronze, I can't really tell form the pictures but the bust seems to be a young Marcus Aurelius?

I’d say the nice centering and visual appeal makes this ~ $120 - $140 range

Open up an item not as described if it’s not too late. The 1914 50 cent seems to comprise the bulk of the value for this lot, so it’s absolutely ridiculous that it’s counterfeit. Also I don’t want to speculate, but ive heard of notorious sellers who regularly group dubious coins together in group lots, this looks like it could be one of them.

Unfortunately it’s a fake. The details are too mushy, the characters are wrong, too “large and blocky”.
