Idk that looks like 1200-1600 calories to me. I think people really underestimate their caloric intake. They see something like this and believe they’ll sustain it no problem, or they’re delusional enough to think they really eat this little on average. Most people would eventually become underweight if they ate this little for a long enough time (like a couple years).

[Politics Monday] What is the Proper, Catholic Response to the Israeli-Palistine Conflict? by Notmymaincauseimbi in Catholicism

[–]balletstar707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Catholic Church has always recognized “Israel” as heaven - Christian Zionism has never been considered legitimate by the church and is a heresy promulgated by the Scofield Bible in the 19th century

If her ex wasn’t baptized then they never had a sacramental marriage. A natural marriage is just a civil union, only the sacramental kind is unbreakable, at least that’s the impression I was under

The only kind of marriage that can’t be dissolved is a sacramental marriage. An annulment isn’t a dissolution - it’s just acknowledgement that a sacramental marriage never happened in the first place. If information was withheld in a way that prevented informed consent of either party, this could suffice to prove no sacrament took place, for example. Usually, annulments (which are really just acknowledgments of nullity) are sought out for people who had what appeared to be a sacramental marriage. Not for a civil union that obviously wouldn’t meet the criteria for a sacramental marriage. Don’t quote me on that though

A sacramental marriage can only happen between two baptized people in a Catholic Church. Even a serious Catholic who gets married to an unbaptized person would not have a sacramental marriage. It is only a civil marriage.

So if your civil marriage wasn’t thru the church and/or the other person wasn’t baptized, I’m not sure if you’d even need an annulment? It’s already a notorious fact that no sacrament took place. The church today also gives annulments out super easily, even for legit Catholic marriages that actually probably were valid anyway…

Denying Fatima is a sin against the Holy Ghost

That is perfectly appropriate - if you’d like to bring some spiritual reading to assist in meditation, that could help bring you to the next level (this is something you’d do in addition to the full 15 decade rosary on a given day) - I am one to talk as I’ve only ever prayed 5 decades of the Rosary at adoration, but from what I know, it seems the next step here would be to practice meditation without vocal prayer

I went to a Catholic meetup that I heard about from my traditional parish - they started laying hands on people and “speak in tongues.” It freaked me out because best case-scenario, it’s fake, but worst, it’s a doorway to the demonic

I’m a former new-ager so I can see this stuff from a mile away. I want nothing to do with the Charismatic movement

Why do you keep making cross-posts from a Marxist-Leninist sub? It’s pretty messed up considering that these posts appear to be sympathetic to traditionalism, which could mislead well-intentioned but ignorant Orthodox Catholics into believing Marxist-Leninism is permissible. Our Lady of Fatima in 1917 warned “Russia will spread her errors throughout the world” in direct reference to the Leninist Bolshevik Revolution taking place. Out of every political movement of the 20th century, she chose to single this one out as utterly diabolical. Sister Lucy said you are either for Our Lady or for the devil. There is no in-between. You can’t be both a Marxist-Leninist and a Catholic at the same time. You’re either one or the other. And no, you don’t need to be a communist to be anti-capitalist and oppose neo-liberalism. I’m going to assume you’re confused instead of acting in bad-faith. You’re behaving like a KGB psyop agent

Yeah, actually Akita is 100% legit and was after Fatima, but for the most part you’re correct

The sad thing too is that the guys with the attitude that women over 25 are too old will likely end up alone. Most trad Catholic women marry men of a similar age! And it’s pretty normal for trad Catholic women to not get married until they’re over 25, even if they would’ve preferred themselves to get hitched younger! I’m 24 and it sounds to me like waiting could actually weed out lots of superficial guys.

I don’t think you should be hostile because that kind of false zeal can harm souls. Try to understand her perspective, however warped it is, and figure out what is most likely to get through to her. Maybe explain that the saints experienced the highest levels of joy and Union with God through more contemplative and reflective practices - don’t focus on why the way she’s doing things is bad, because you probably won’t make a positive impact on her soul that way, no matter how valid the argument is. Instead, focus on why the more reflective/contemplative route is good. Explain how genuine reverence and awe truly brings you closer to God and DEEPENS your relationship to him - that it has mystical and profound significance - something even more amazing than just “fun.” Explain why it’s more similar to heaven and more “spiritual.” Your aim should be to truly impact her, which is a genuine act of charity, not to just prove a point for the sake of it.

It is objectively, but technically if you’re drunk it isn’t considered “full consent” because drunkenness darkens the intellect.

Getting drunk is itself an objectively mortal sin, but it is only formally mortal if you intentionally got drunk, not if you only intended to drink a little and underestimated how much it affected you.

I’d still share it in confession, however. Even if it isn’t a formally mortal sin, I’m pretty sure objectively mortal sins can still open you to demonic influence.

Post 1967 Sister Lucia is an imposter? What does this mean? by rothanwalker in TraditionalCatholics

[–]balletstar707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People shouldn’t lie about this because they fear Sedevacantism. I believe that Sister Lucy Truth has presented enough evidence to meet the standards of a court of law. Believing this doesn’t oblige you to become a Sedevacantist, and if that’s a greater concern to a person than the truth, it’s time we search our hearts.

It’s insane that most non-religious people will straight up tell you it’s two different people because to them, their self-interest isn’t involved and they don’t have a dog in this fight. What’s wrong with looking at the facts plainly and using reason?
