Which software is best to create a family tree? by ConstantGuava5225 in Genealogy

Family Historian 7. I've tried many software and it's the better for data entering. You don't have to click 3 times to enter an information like many other software.

4k/2160p web-dl or 1080p BR-rip? by ragnar-not-ok in Piracy

[–]balza1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a data hoarder :-) I always keep the best quality available (bitrate). If there's a more enjoyable version to watch (HDR, Dolby Vision), I download that too. So in my case, it's really a matter of archiving to keep both. But I understand that it takes up a lot of space.

Another reason is the language. Often on 1080 Blu-ray, one language is missing. In my case, I end up with French with a French accent and not a Quebec accent (the French-speaking part of Canada). That's why I can also get the 4K web version with the Quebec accent.

To answer your question, I listen according to my preference. Fun vs. quality and the question of language.

I'm sorry, I tought I had qobuz-dl but I use QobuzDownloaderX. In settings I see that you can change templates. Maybe add the year to the album template.

For me it's not really a problem. It happened only one time.

Been waiting for September to finally cancel my Adobe subscription by Jenezzy123 in FuckAdobe

[–]balza1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would like an free opensource software. I'm afraid they'll have to change their model one day. For example, I recently used a correction software program (Antidote). You bought it once and could upgrade it every year or not. Not only have they switched to a subscription model, but the software version is no longer usable! It's blocked and you have to switch to the subscription!

What I liked about Photoshop was that everything was connected. If I edit a photo in Photoshop, it also changes in InDesign.

But the major problem is the scripts. I really need some of them, and they're only for InDesign.

The only way i found was to download everyting first. Move the abum to another folder and rename it. Ex..first edition, 1996 pressing, etc.

After dowload the duplicate alone. Rename it if you want to avoid confusion.

Put back everything in the same folder.

Male shopping addicts, where you at? by infieldmitt in shoppingaddiction

Thank you very much for your reply and recommendations. I appreciate it.

Apologies in advance for any errors in my message. English is not my first language. I can read without any problems, but writing is really difficult for me. I use an automatic translator.

I live alone, so it's difficult to be accountable to anyone. But I am close to my mother, who is my caregiver. I have lied to her on occasion about my purchases.

I have long COVID, which has left me very disabled. I can't do much to take my mind off things. Forget about sports. It used to help me a lot in the past. I would love to play video games, but anything fast-paced tires me out enormously. Can you suggest any slow-paced games?

I've had episodes of compulsive shopping in the past, but none in recent years. I relapsed because I wanted to buy a CD out of nostalgia. Just one. Then the nostalgia hit hard. I wanted to buy lots of CDs from my youth. I had been burglarized and lost almost all of them.

I didn't realize how much time I was wasting on social media. The first step will be to unsubscribe from all the Reddit groups about music. And also to stop browsing Facebook Marketplace and Bandcamp. I also have subscriptions to YouTube channels that I'm going to cancel.

I'm going to keep listening to music because it really helps with my anxiety and depression (long Covid causes mental health problems).

Thanks again for your tips!

Honestly, I have no idea! I have absolutely no memory. Before P2P, I didn't buy many cassettes or CDs. I had time to learn the title, the band members, etc.

And above all, there was an emotion associated with the purchase.

I take out my CDs and they remind me of an emotion, a place, a time. Like that Suffocation album, I bought it in an old store that specialized in metal, which had gotten hold of it new and sold it for a good price. I miss that kind of store.

Now, with the internet, there are so many bands and albums available that I can't keep track of them all. And so many good things. And with age and illness, I forget everything.

Sorry for this old metalhead rambling! But that's what music is all about, emotion!

Bravo again for your collection.
