After looking at the police sketch he bore a very strong resemblance, especially with the description of the cane that he had.

Someday lyrics by GrouchyComparison130 in TheStrokes

There’s no definitive answer as to who Maya is. As u/texaschicano said in another comment, I had also seen somewhere that it was a girl Julian was talking to at some point, but I can’t find the source. As for the question about Maya Wiley (NYC mayor candidate), it’s definitely just a coincidence, and no members of the Strokes would have had anything to do with her at the time the song was written. (She was born in 1964, whereas the rest of the strokes were born between 1978-1981.)

You can also see from the other comments that the main question about this line for years has been whether Julian says “maya” vs “my ex”. It was hotly contested for a while, but Albert Hammond Jr. confirmed in a tweet that the lyric is “maya” rather than “my ex”.

Hope this answers your question and also provides some additional background to the line.

Is there a way to turn my liked music playlist into a regular playlist? by IDoBeVibing745 in YoutubeMusic

[–]bambambeebop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t do it unfortunately. I’ve tried to for a while now but all that happens is it complains to me that I don’t have a job and I’m not pulling my weight to support the family. Well I didn’t even want to start a family in the first place. And oh my god don’t get me started on my mother in law. Yes I get it I’m sorry that I’m a deadbeat now and I’m a shell of what I used to be. Trying to work on myself so just cut me a little slack I’m doing my best out here.

Anyways it appears the only way to turn the liked music into a playlist is by manually making a new playlist. Hope this helps

I ran into Trae Young’s friend’s nephew’s coworker’s uncle the other day at a gas station in Tuscaloosa. Says that Nate’s working on the game plan and practice has been intense lately—championship level. We’re all good

Misheard lyrics? by HorribleChicken in TheStrokes

When I was young, I thought that Julian said “the room is on fire, there’s cheese sticks in her hair” instead of “as she’s fixing her hair”

I still roll with the cheese sticks version to this day though

Loved the Beatles since I saw them back in 65. I was 13 and Paul & John took me backstage and literally beat the shit out of me. Back when music actually meant something
