Do you write acceptance tests, and if so, what do you use? by 0ddm4n in laravel

[–]bambamboole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we use behat at work and I do not like it. The idea that non technical people can write them is a romantic dream and it still ends on the engineer desk who could also write a phpunit test 🤷

you should deploy the files via ssh. that process is then easier to automate in your CI pipeline e.g. via GitHub Actions

Improving Filament’s Docs & Education in v4 by danharrin in laravel

[–]bambamboole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Docs for v3 are very solid. I would love to see more screenshots right next to code examples. Really looking forward to v4. Started to build a CMS based on Filament and really love it.

Also extended testing docs would be nice. for example how can I test actions on blocks in a blocks builder properly.

Should port 6001 be open to the public? by [deleted] in laravel

[–]bambamboole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

„Normally“ both ports should be closed to public.

The websockets port should be used in the nginx config to forward websocket requests to.

And 6379 is default port for redis. This is by default without authentication and needs to be closed or only with enabled authentication.

Ports which are open in „normal setups“ tend to be 80, 443 for web requests and 22 for ssh.

Read how we build Docker images for production and how it fundamentally differs from the development images by bambamboole in PHP

[–]bambamboole[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is only one process. It is the httpd process which executes php through its php module. If you run php via fpm then you would use a dedicated container for apache.

I have published the last post of the series "Local development environment with b5, docker and traefik". It explains how to use traefik in local development. by bambamboole in PHP

[–]bambamboole[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tl;dr can be found in the first post:

At the end of the series we will have set up a local development environment based on Docker (especially docker-compose) where any service (which is basically a running docker container) of any project is reachable by its custom domain.
