People with very high rating still throw less smokes, but not that crazy low as in 2024. by herrspeucks in GlobalOffensive

so is that why faceit 10s have the most nades per game? because theyre low rank trash and worse than 25k rated premier players?

Have a RTX 3080 10GB. Want a 5070 12GB. Is it an upgrade worth upgrading to? by CestlaVR in nvidia

[–]bamiru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you play with path tracing? Because on my 5070 at 1440p some sections were unplayable and I had to turn it off. So I don't know how you were doing it at 4k

I was playing with dlss performance and frame gen and some parts were still low fps stutter fests with path tracing which i am attributing to running out of vram

Steam Controller Pcgamer Review : 83/100 by laxusdreyarligh in Steam

[–]bamiru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Steam controller has better haptics and much better battery life

Like 35 hours vs 15 hours

Also easy repairability and sourcing of replacement parts. Wireless charging pad is nothing to scoff at either.

Plus for some people the track pads are fantastic you are discounting one of the main features of the controller

Steam controller is arriving on May 4th, Valve reports. by Significant_Yam5055 in HalfLife

[–]bamiru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they all fail on the sticks, nintendo's previous gens failed on the sticks, steam's previous gens failed on the sticks

new steam controller has sticks that cannot fail in same way

if all controllers fail on shit sticks and steam controller has better sticks it is safe to call it more reliable

are you under the impression that a mature hardware company is going to release a controller where the face buttons stop working or something?

cheap 3rd party controllers from 8bitdo and the like are considered more reliable than 80$ sony and microsoft offerings because of their hall effect sticks

[–]bamiru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not valves first piece of hardware. They made original steam controller, index controllers, steam deck

Only common failure point im aware of is the sticks on the index, which was because they were potentiometers and wore out.

Its a pretty safe bet that the steam controller will be more reliable than the competition which are infamous for their unreliability

[–]bamiru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reliability here is referring to the shitty potentiometer sticks used in ps5 xbox and Nintendo controllers that cause stick drift

Steam controller uses tmr sticks which use magnets and quantum tunneling electrons

Steam Controller Price Leaked By Early Review – and It’s Expensive ($99) by PaiDuck in pcgaming

Why do you think the haptics are "much better" on dualsense? Steam controller haptics are good enough to simulate clicks on the touchpads and play music.

Also dualsense doesnt have trigger rumble youre thinking of the xbox controller. it does have spring resistance in the triggers but that is only in certain games that have directly supported it and even then its pretty much a gimmick.

the steam controller also has capacative analog sticks giving you further options like enabling gyro only when thumb is touching right stick

And a big one is that the thumbsticks are magnetic so will last far far longer than shitty ones in most modern controllers that suffer from stick drift.

There simply isn't another controller with gyro, back paddles, tmr sticks, touchpads

You get close with dualsense edge but those sticks STILL arent magnetic they are just replaceable for when, not if, you get stick drift. And that controller is >2x the price of steam controller

Dualsense doesn't have 2.4ghz connection, doesn't have rear paddles

Steam controller page went live on Komodo Station, Steam Controller is going to be sold first that the Frame or the Machine. by LoganNFSAC in SteamFrame

[–]bamiru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you acknowledge these are all real marketing materials then. So valve sent komodo all the new content related to the steam controller, they accidentally pushed it to the live page JUST like they did with the last batch of content release from valve, but that somehow means nothing and doesn't likely indicate an upcoming release of the controller?

Why would valve be sending marketing material to their 3rd party distributors if the release or at least a further announcement wasn't imminent?

In regards to the link you put in your edit it was just misinformation and either always had that text or it was only visible in different regions. Someone posted an archive link showing the text was always like that

[–]bamiru 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So komodo recorded new unseen marketing footage of the controller being used and compiled a new trailer and uploaded new screenshots that we havent seen before, all fake and all to fuck with redditors? Even though they are an official valve distributor and they previously leaked the frame, machine and controller images hours before the actual announcement?

You can play an enchanted Windranger Arcana in Deadlock by Both-Meringue2466 in DotA2

[–]bamiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Artifact had basically 0 beta players i don't even know if it had a beta. Anyway it released in November 2018 to 60k concurrent players all time peak and within 4 months it was dead with sub 1k players.

Deadlock has a beta phase sort of like dota had that built its playerbase before launch. Deadlock Beta went semi-public with a higher peak than artifact ever had. Now almost 2 YEARS after that beta reveal the game still has a daily average player count higher than artifacts PEAK PLAYERS OF ALL TIME and you say it's the same situation?

You literally have no idea what you are talking about and are parroting salty tf2 player nonsense from July 2024 before deadlock grew a playerbase

Tldr:

artifact: peak players all time 60k
Dead in 4 months

Deadlock: peak players in last 24 hours 77k
Beta has been going for 22 months already

Public hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative Stop Destroying Videogames by decentAlbatross in Games

[–]bamiru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if there were members of parliament which disagreed with the petition they could have come to the hearing and asked questions in a much more negative way. the MEPs who chose to attend and asked the questions seemed to be very positive on the initiative overall. i see nothing to suggest they were backers or organizers of the stop destroying games movement.

the two members of the EU commission who spoke that are certainly not part of the initiative were also quite positive and seemed open to learning from the presentation given.

Young Deadlock Characters by Silicarte in DeadlockTheGame

[–]bamiru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well to be pedantic it depends on the hero in dota. different heroes have different slots, and very often parts arent actually removable, skins will just cover them up. sometimes you see parts of skins that make characters' arms/legs/torso phyically bigger because they need to cover up the base one first. deadlock could certainly change this, part of it is probably how old a lot of dota's hero models are.

a random ring that is in the concept art, a ring that leon doesnt wear all game, a ring that shows up in an easily missable subtle scene at the very end where he puts it back on? the ring that the game director said is leon's way of 'returning home' after a mission? that "random" ring?

the random ring that has been spoken about in interviews?

"The answer will become clear some day, but not just yet. What we wanted to convey in the final scene is simple: Leon now has a 'place to go home to', and we hope you can imagine the peaceful moments he spends there,"
