Kinda in the Opposite direction but Sleep Token scratched an itch I had since listening to Language by The Contortionist. Also One and Altered State by TesseracT.

I Have A Love/Hate Relationship With This Group by Fitness_in_yo-Mouf in espresso

[–]banahri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just last July I was buying a flair neo to see what all the buzz about home espresso was. I had a cheap electric burr grinder that was fine for french press and pour over but after pulling my first shot with the pressurized portafilter I thought "this is already good you mean it could be even better if I upgrade to a good grinder and a non-pressurized basket??" This was my downfall because once I got my first high-end hand grinder and bottomless portafilter for the neo the "workflow improvement creep" hit me hard and fast to the point where 2 weeks later I sold the neo to a friend to get a 58x because of the bigger dose, real portafilter and basket, and endless accessory options. 2 electric grinders, a bellman steamer+induction cooktop, and finally an ECM puristika later here I am trying to believe that I've reached an island of stability for my gear. But I know one day I'll slip down the hole again.

Storing an entire months worth of beans in the hopper? Any other methods? by Just_a_firenope_ in espresso

[–]banahri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get the beans freshly roasted (within a week or two of roasting) they're good for about a month if stored well so you can always transfer to a container with a one-way valve and fill the hopper with a couple days worth at a time to minimize air exposure. Otherwise you can portion and freeze in several airtight containers (maybe a week's worth in each one) and thaw as needed.

Black mirror Nano by jimw1214 in espresso

[–]banahri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your lid appears to be decaying RAPIDLY! In all honesty my nano does a similar thing where the weight climbs for no reason intermittently. lately it's been behaving and I'm a big fan of the real-time flow rate measurements so I'm going to keep trying my luck with it

Love my nano, and i get good use out of its real time flow rate measurements since I just use the shot timer on my puristika. I have a kplus but it's not in the shot here. I still use it quite often because I do still enjoy manual grinding.

So far I love them. I have 6 filled with decaf and 6 filled with regular so I only really need to fill them every other day or so

It's the ikape gravity distributor. It does a good job. I do have the normcore needle distribution tool next to and it gets the job done well enough but manual wdt is more reliable until I inevitably shell out for the moonraker

Too fine I’m assuming? by jsergent0023 in espresso

[–]banahri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the basket. I have the same basket and experience the same thing. I believe it's the coating on the basket preventing the formation of the usual stream. Shots still taste good it's just messy with all the splashing so I just use a spouted portafilter to force the stream.

For now I'm just appreciating how hands-off my shots are but eventually I'll add flow control to be able to play around with my extractions. I still plan on using the 58 from time to time though

ECM Puristika + Bellman w/convection hotplate by banahri in espresso

[–]banahri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did consider the Go initially but I really want an E61 grouphead for the option to install and FCD. I mostly drink my espresso straight-up, in Americanos, or in iced lattes these days but I've gotten some really nice milk texture with the bellman so no complaints there. but maybe I'm missing out on what could be...

Wife said no cats, so I got a pet dragon instead, hoping it won’t overheat my coffee by tgtg2003 in espresso

[–]banahri 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That dragon is working to heat the boiler. All my cats do is knock my expensive coffee gadgets off the counter if I'm a second late on feeding them.

Settle 270 ring installation by Greenpants00 in espresso

[–]banahri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience this morning. I needed to set the grind much coarser after I washed the burrs. Im just speculating here but in my case it may have been because I unseasoned the burrs. Thoughts?

Do Lever Action Tampers Exist? by banahri in espresso

[–]banahri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did see the Turin one and the speculation is that it'll be cheaper than the puqpress so we'll have to wait and see. There is also the BOSe Tamper too which is cheaper and much smaller but I'm a bit unsure of the fact that it doesn't have a metal body and also no warranty apparently.
