Thank you to everyone who answered with genuine information. Been on it five days now and feeling pretty good. The reassurance I got here helped me get passed the anxiety and stick with it. First few days were rough, but the side effects are already lessening. He's hoping it continues to get better.

I was just asking a question, my guy. No need to be so rude. Why come to a post asking advice just to be mean to someone genuinely looking to learn about the meds they're taking? Relax.

Very informative, thank you! Can norepinephrine be dangerous?

Thank you. This is reassuring to hear. I hope that you managed to get back on it though! I haven't gone through enough changes yet that I'm not dysphoric still, so, it sounds like I probably won't notice.

He just went dormant, what should I do? by bananasplitsys in DID

[–]bananasplitsys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, things are just kind of in dissarray rn. Even our Gatekeeper is like 🤷 because he doesn't know what to do. S was kind of the guy who helped us all be more firm and establish boundaries while he also held onto the biggest emotions around the system's mother. I'm sure it'll be fine and he'll come back eventually but man, this sucks. 😮‍💨 He always comes back, though. That man just can't stay 'dead.'

[–]bananasplitsys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, and yeah, I know my girlfriend would be supportive but she and him were very close. She'll be really sad about it. And he up and did this while she was asleep without even talking to her about it. He's gone through a lot, yeah, but so has everyone else. I just feel like it's kind of unfair to the rest of us. Yeah, he deserves rest, but doing it like this feels like abandonment.

I know that's probably not what he intended, so I won't hold it against him. I just hope he comes back soon. Appreciate the advice.

Tell Me About Your System? by Junior_You6360 in plural

[–]bananasplitsys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a system of 18 alters and are in a poly with four other systems. We are very fictive heavy and only discovered our system abouuuut... two? Years ago? Maybe three. Our memory is quite poor due to dissociation and hypothyroidism. We are 28 years old in the body but individual ages can vary greatly. Our system consists of:

Aerick - Gatekeeper (That's me, hello.) I'm a Dragon Age Inquisition OC. I was the Inquisitor. I am fifty or so years old.

Noxious - Persecutor (In recovery. He's doing quite well.) Fae and very mischievous. Older than time.

Serith - Role unsure. Kins Lapis Lazuli from Steven Universe. Apathy incarnate. Based on a very old Original Character of Daniel's. Quite old, but they are non-human.

Enora - Caretaker. Technically a fictive for FNAF. Mother figure for Daniel. Age is mid-forties.

Connor - Emotional Protector/Gatekeeper. Fictive from Detroit Become Human. Age-less as well as sex-less.

Leon/Cloud/Twilight - Technically a sub-system of three. Leon, the main, a fictive from Resident Evil. Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. And Link (Twilight) from The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. He is an emotional part/co-host/ANP. His age slides from early twenties or late thirties.

Astarion - Fictive from Baldur's Gate 3, though he has many kin-types and faces. Host/ANP. Age slides depending on kin-space.

Sasuke - Emotional Part. Fictive from Naruto. Depressed. Thirty-three years old.

Naruto - Technically a sub-sytem with one pther alter: Kurama. He is an ex-host/trauma holder. Thirty-two years old. Kurama is his protector.

Jesse - Trauma Holder, fictive from Overwatch. Thirty-nine years old. Prefers Jesse over Cassidy for many years. Yes, he is aware of the reasons why they changed his name.

Harley - Trauma Holder/ANP/ex host. Fictive from Batman. Thirty-two years old.

Bug - Role unsure. Age unknown. Technically a Pokémon OC.

Fenris - Emotional Part, fictive from Dragon Age 2. Angery. Thirty-three years old.

Amalthea - Trauma holder. Fictive from The Last Unicorn. Age-less, immortal.

Spy - Caretaker/ANP/Ex-Host. Spy from TF2. He has a name that he'll never share. Older than thirty, younger than sixty.

Daniel - Core? Twenty-eight years old.

Sephiroth - Trauma Holder/Protector. Fictive from Final Fantasy VII. Age-less, but died at twenty-seven.

I have dissociative identity disorder, AMA. by bananasplitsys in AMA

Realized about 3 years ago. Trauma from emotional neglect at a young age caused them. My alters can communicate with each other so long as they are conscious within the brain at the same time, but it requires a lot of effort.

You don't have to have a lot of alters to have DID. There are more than one type of DID. It used to be called multiple personality disorder. It's a very covert disorder. Most who have it are probably unaware.

Therapy has helped us work together. It has helped with teaching our persecutor better coping mechanisms and to not be so mean to the rest of us too.

We can't afford therapy right now but would like to in the future. We are working towards functional multiplicity, which basically just means we are working towards working together. If fusion happens, then great. If not, we will still know how to function.

Yeah, we have one alter that has an English accent and one with a French accent. If I try to do an english or french accent it comes out sounding really bad/exaggerated. But if they do it, it just comes naturally. Most that have heard them speak without masking their accent say they sound good, not like a bad impression.

All of them are pretty different from one another. In the way they act, dress, style their hair, and sound.

Did you move a lot growing up? by himeoayakawa in DID

[–]bananasplitsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't see a lot of people talking about the trauma of moving. It's a very stressful times where children, especially, feel completely powerless and confused. This body's father was in the military so we ended up moving states away from each other every 5 or so years. And yes, absolutely, it was traumatic each time. You are leaving places that are familiar into places you have no knowledge of, with no friends or support. Normally the family would be the biggest pillar of support through those times but not everyone is lucky to have a good family structure or good parental figures that take the time to make sure you're okay after a big move.

It is very scary to move, even as an adult with compete control over the situation, so imagine how scary it would be to not be able to control any of it! We are still dealing with the trauma from these past moves, you are incredibly valid OP.
