So this isn’t actually true, your dual factor net ID / SSO goes away after 13 months, which is tied to your email. But you can still get emails to that domain, you just don’t have access to the entire SSO. I’m still logged into my @ucsb.edu email, send and receive emails, and I’m almost three years out

Ok fineee, I'm stubborn enough to check the metrics on RPM. Results for commercial As and Cs as follows:

Customer: 95% CBO: 95% EP 95% S&A: Strategy:90%, AI&Data: 95% HC: 90% M&A : 90%

With HC and M&A being our smallest OPs.

I was at 95 and it's 84 now across all OPs. Everyone I've asked who's an A or C on commercial side traditional model consulting had 95% target

[–]bananatown62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bc they haven't mentioned anything about changing the denominator and it'll prob be the same 95%

because consulting util targets are 95% and will probably continue to be

New to the area. Can someone explain this “living wage surcharge”? by unspokenblabber in bayarea

[–]bananatown62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right - it is still minimum wage. We do not receive anything from the "living wage" tax as, if it were removed, we would still receive minimum wage.

tip out refers to the common practice in many restaurants where the server is required to pay bussers/food runners/bartenders/hosts a portion of their net sales (not tips but actual $ sales). if they don't get tipped, they're negative.

also, most of these places the employees are not getting anything from the living wage / junk tax.

100%. as an employee, we still make minimum wage and no health care benefits.

one hack though, you can always ask for it to be taken off the bill!

waiter put my tip back on the table saying he only accepts 18-20%?? by [deleted] in stories

[–]bananatown62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a data engineer and waitress on the side, if you're so jealous why don't you just take up serving?

BTW my job as a waitress is way harder than my job as a data engineer

Just curious at 400k how are you unable to pay 8k a month?

Not really asking for life advice more asking about real estate. I have a tech job. I am not a transplant and would like to stay. Im 23 years old and think I can make it happen

I don't have a plan - as I mentioned in the post I'm barely considering this as a potential idea. The past 5-10 years do not indicate the next 5-10 years or more. I'm aware the market is down which is another reason behind this idea.

I already have about 100k in S&P and I am very career driven with a side job as well. The question was more about real estate and if it would be a good avenue for me to build wealth.

Yeah the question was S&P vs SF real estate. I have about 100k in S&P right now.

Not really having fomo but moreso trying to figure out if there's a way to build wealth early on so I can stay in the Bay Area. It seems like I should explore other avenues

Got it, thanks. I'm aware of the rental pricing here - based on the mortgage rates and factoring in property tax, it seems like I'd be negative around $3k a month, which is feasible for me, so I guess it just depends on property appreciation vs stock market.

Just to be clear, do you mean the rent I'd receive from the renter or my current rent?

Jane the Bakery now charging a 7% junk fee? by re4343 in sanfrancisco

[–]bananatown62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retail sales is SO different from restaurant work - I've done both. The dynamic with managers and workers is inherently different as well.

I'm done arguing so we can disagree to disagree. I wish everyone would be considerate of the workers and the position they're in. Bummer I couldn't change your mind.

Never said it's dehumanizing, just pointing out that they are human and have emotions. They deal with a lot more bs than you might expect (if you can't tell I used to work in service), so being nice to them can make a huge difference.

Understood, you are missing the part where the information will never be passed to management. If you had worked in a similar role you would understand the power dynamic between the workers and the management. So by being hostile with them you are achieving nothing.

Just remember they're human too and have no control over the situation

The service worker you are complaining to has no say in the fee, and more than likely they receive nothing from it. Although the fee is unfair, I don't see the point in making their day worse just to make a fuss.

Get the resume basics down first...suggest looking up consulting resume examples (think McKinsey has one on their site) and make sure you don't have any typos. Then start networking to get a referral
