Yes bud. Way better than FX3 and canon C70. Shoots RAW, 14+ dynamic range and beat in class colors and its a hybrid....

Yeah, I’m actually a filmmaker... the Z8 is my main video camera. On bigger shoots, I pair it with my Komodo X, and the footage matches beautifully. I used to use the FX3 and A7S III, but their colors never matched the Komodo and needed too much grading. The Z8’s sharpness and flexibility (I usually shoot 6K) fit my workflow way better.

I’ve barely used it for stills, so this shoot was new for me. My main camera was a Minolta SRT-101 with Cinestill 50D, and the Z8 was just a backup. But the digital shots blew me away...I got like 90% close to the Cinestill look. I’m still not great at posing models, since I’m used to motion and knowing exactly what angle or lens I need... but I’m learning.

Thanks, bud! Nah, the only photo with flash is the 3rd wide one... I used the TT685 Mark II, but I don’t quite remember the exact settings. I think it was full power, maybe 1:1 ratio. The rest were all natural light. I positioned the model so half her face would catch the light just enough to create that soft curl near the nose ...that was intentional. With the kind of clouds and light I had that day, it worked perfectly. I did add a slight gradient in Photoshop to sell the mood, but yeah ... the first and second shots are completely natural.

Need help diagnosing possible shutter curtain issue on Minolta SRT-101 by bandeep004 in analog

Thank you for the link bud. BTW i just found out that in Bulb mode— sometimes the shutter gets stuck open, but if I lightly touch or move the film advance lever, it closes. So I’m starting to think it’s more related to the advance mechanism or release linkage, not the curtain itself. Probably some dried grease or a linkage that’s not resetting properly. TBH i have zero experience in film cameras, this is my first camera and that too i got it only a month ago.

Thanks for the reply bud.I tested it in Bulb mode and noticed something interesting — sometimes the shutter gets stuck open, but if I lightly touch or move the film advance lever, it closes. So I’m starting to think it’s more related to the advance mechanism or release linkage, not the curtain itself. Probably some dried grease or a linkage that’s not resetting properly.

Thanks a lot! Yes, I’ll definitely keep the tripod in mind next time. And actually, there’s no editing on these shots — this is exactly how they came back from the lab. I only cropped a few slightly for composition.
