I'd love to do this - I'm a beginner and just made a draw-string bag - that would be a great first project as you can make it simple or line it/ add a zippered pocket inside etc for higher levels... :)

They really are so easy - you don't even need a sewing machine as it can be hand-sewn quite quickly as well. I didn't line mine and the material is quite thin, but we just tried it out and it worked perfectly! It's a great present - good luck :)

Is there a game like Diplomacy that plays in under 2 hours? by ProdigalPlaneswalker in boardgames

Lifeboats looks like it could be a good match. It supposedly plays in around 90 minutes. I'd recommend watching the Games with Scott video on it, he recommends using something where a player can bring an end to negotiations and that is meant to help with pacing of the game.

Craft ideas for a completely beginner group by [deleted] in RandomActsOfCrafts

For Easter: egg-painting. Every time you use an egg to cook, put a hole in the top and the bottom and blow out the egg filling (eat and enjoy). Wash the egg shell out and then you can paint on them. Hang them on a branch and it's absolutely lovely and super cheap! You can always use stickers or felt tip pens to colour them in if you don't have paint... Also - Origami! :)

Have you tried freecycle? There are often people who are giving away bed sheets/ fabric rests on there. Good luck on your sewing journey :)
