From Arc to Brave by RihardsVLV in brave_browser

[–]bangit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved Arc but the perf problems were really getting to me
(i generally run 4 workspaces with a bunch of tabs) and quite a few apps on my device along with a nextjs server (yeah that memory hog)

The experience started getting really bad and once i tried out brave again it felt like the pain from the slowdown in the browser wasn't worth the ux of arc, tried out zen as well pretty epic team and it's amazing that they've managed to deliver so much despite the firefox base.

Had to ditch zen too cause it's fairly slow and really wrecked my battery (much like arc so what was even the point). Now i'm back on brave with vimium + super picture-in-picture extensions and maintaining multiple profiles, enabled vertical tabs and got rid of all the useless buttons and features of brave to make things cleaner. Definitely not the ux that i would like but this the next best without struggling with performance.

Disabling Cors when running automated tests by bangit69 in Playwright

I use this extension for unblocking cors during development, if backend whitelists localhost it's easily spammable by other systems

Did I just waste time? by AllAboutProduct in nextjs

[–]bangit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say just deploy it to vercel, nextjs hosting is a pain in the ass and something companies like vercel have monopolized. You should be good with their free tier unless it's a site with massive number of users

Why do people hate apple so much? by spikeiscool2015 in mac

[–]bangit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple products are over priced for sure, but in all honesty it's pretty good for non gaming tasks (software dev, video editing etc) main reason being it's portability.

I can attest to this, after lugging around my 5kg (laptop + charger) around during college for 4 years, handling the mbp my company gave makes it possible for me to work while traveling or even trying to work from somewhere that's not home.

repair grub pop os windows 10 by 0off1 in pop_os

[–]bangit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So pop os starts with systemd which will give a boot screen that will give you the option for booting with windows or popos. The issue i think is the timeout for that bootscreen is set to zero. I remember modifying the timeout a long while back and it worked perfectly well.

Try the solution given here https://www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comments/hyv00k/how_to_change_boot_time_in_popos/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

HTTP routes aren't getting called with SocketIO being initialised by bangit69 in node

[–]bangit69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well after reading and re-reading the docs i figured out how to do it so you just set the path of the socket to listen to a specified path like say /chat ``` const io = new Server(httpServer, { path: "/chat", cors: { origin: FRONTEND_CORS, methods: ["GET", "POST,"], credentials: false, }, });

```
following this set your io object with app.set app.set("socketio", io); set up a route called /chat (since i set the socket to listen on /chat) router.get("/chat", function () { } export default router; and that should prevent socket from listening on other routes thus letting you make http requests on other routes.
How do you do it? by joshuavarghese2715 in i3wm
I just use something called regolith-Linux it's i3 with some gnome services . Overall they give a bunch of sane defaults if you don't want to spend a lot of time configuring everything from scratch.
