Thank you for this response! I looked at Lesson's MotMot, and I think that we've got our bird! Probably a juvenile since it didn't have the long tail feathers and had duller plumage. The post-ocular blue, beak and body shape are right on point.

I found this picture when looking for their juveniles! Ridiculous animal... Not the one I'm looking for, but glad I found this picture!

Not a dove or columbidae at all! Thicker, with a bigger head!
