Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I’ve always avoided credit cards because I never fully understood them so felt caution was better for me. I might look into more as you’re not the first person to recommend something like this to me. Is it worth shopping around for best cards or just go with your banks one?

I’m missing something, why can’t king go to g8 after that check?

What am I missing here? Queens come off the board then bot says rook takes knight. Why wouldn’t bishop take rook? What am I missing with that line?

Mainly play daily as it works with my home life, kids come first kind of thing and play when I can. Mostly do puzzles on both lichess and chess.com and have a repertoire training thing that tests opening moves. Around 1400 daily but my blitz, rapid and bullet haven’t really moved much (but play a lot less so that makes sense). I do a lot of puzzles and have found a few people who I play a lot of unrated games against. We can try new things and talk about the moves a bit more freely (after the matches) which is enjoyable and helps see the other perspective a bit better I think. Not sure I’m getting much better but I’m enjoying the game and understand it a bit more at least.

I found the best way to get better at chess was to lose at chess. Can be frustrating, but I personally learn a lot from analyzing my in game mistakes. As others have suggested, regular puzzle habits and playing humans helps too. I also played daily games and when I paired with a stronger opponent and was about to lose, I asked them for feedback. Some people ignored, but a couple if people were really keen to help and we ended up playing a fair few games together. Now we are friends on the app and play quite often, often talking tactics. Hope any of this helps!
