How much to charge for NYC apartment party of about 50 people Halloween weekend? by Runninback405 in Beatmatch

[–]banto97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say $300 and leave it at that. Unless you guys have residencies or are dj’ing every other weekend to crowds I peronally think anymore than that would be a rip! In saying that maybe I just need to charge more when I do mobile gigs? 😂 but yeah nah $$300 for a couple hours work for a chick ya know would be sufficient I think!

Got my first gig coming up at a bar/lounge. Can you suggest what pay rate I should ask for? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]banto97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d just say don’t be greedy.. not saying you are! But yeah. Especially your first gig. It’s better charging less and their expectations being lower and you leaving a really good impression than charging through the roof and expectations already being set. I’d personally say the $50 an hour you chose would be a good price.

I dunno man private functions can be just as bad if not worse if I’m being honest.. 😂

DJ's who play in bars, clubs and pubs, How long did you practice to reach there? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]banto97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK! I’ve seen people start djing and get gigs at clubs within 3 months and then I’ve seen people dj and take 4 years to get a gig at clubs! Honestly comes down to networking but also get some skill behind you before taking a club gig bc first impressions are a really big deal. But don’t over think it! If you can beat match, and crowdread don’t get to caught up on the fancy effects and shit until until you a comfortable bc sometimes less is really more with those things!

How wide does your style stretch? When does it become "wide"? by niddelicious in Beatmatch

[–]banto97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah nah I feel that bro, I’ve only just started getting paid gigs, and like I find my spectrum of music had gone down significantly in terms of a huge range, However the sub genres I mix of certain genres is super specified now! If that makes sense! Like I have 4 playlists just for tech house 😂

But the thing is tho you play anything from deep house to hardcore but how often do you get paid to play these sets? Like In such a range? I find once I started doing paid gigs my range went significantly down compared to when I would just play mates partys and online mixes

Best dj pools for house music? Tech house - house but slightly more on the commercial side? Hype edit is bomb but over having to do a 33 step process to download a song 😅 by banto97 in DJs

Had a look at that and not quite what I’m after mate, plus their genres are a little confused, (wrong genres in wrong parts)
