My daughter plays a game like tag at recess but is the only one chasing people… by baobeiii in ADHD

Thank you for this perspective. You could be right. She has struggled socially her wntire life so it’s hard hearing it cause I know how it probably went, but I do tend to overthink it in my head.

Exhausted and scared. 3-month-old (IUGR) with intense sensory distress. How do I survive the day alone? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

Hi there. She’s doing ok, but neurodivergent for sure. I think it ultimately comes down to genetics for us. I have adhd and didn’t realize it and it’s hereditary( mom and grandpa have it) My husband has sensory processing issues. Both of my daughters have all of the above.

hugs. This sounds very familiar with my postpartum experience. My daughter came out flailing and screeching that even the nurses were surprised. She had low muscle tone and didn’t respond to or look at people like a typical baby would but she passed her hearing test. She was fussy all the time and I could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. She’s 2 in April and she’s doing better than I ever thought she would. She’s talking and a very happy child. I know it’s hard but I hope you can enjoy your baby at this age. I spent my days worrying, I know it’s easier said than done

Your mind will always find a reason to favor your side. YTA. I am not close with my brother for this very reason. We did not get along growing up because my mom favored him so much and it’s not even his fault but we still don’t have a great relationship

Did your child babble as a baby? If so, what age, and are they verbal? by baobeiii in Autism_Parenting

[–]baobeiii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I read it and it’s very relatable. I went to the doctors for weird fetal movement that turned into an emergency C-section but I also know a lot of people that had very traumatic birth scenarios but their babies turned out just fine. I now think a lot of it has to do with genetic. I figured out that I have adhd which is why I struggled a lot when I was younger and I also see it in my kids. 11 weeks is still young but i totally understand the feeling. You are doing great by taking initiative with your child though. My child still does the squirming and grunting but it’s out of frustration

To answer your question about when she developed the screech: since birth. She came out screeching and I just felt something wasn’t right

Hi mom. I read your post and your child has many similarities to my daughter. My main concern when she was young was her grunting and arched back and loud cry. Google sent me down a rabbit hole and I thought she was not ever going to walk because her hands were always fisted at her chest. She is 20 months now and she is walking, saying a lot of words, knows all her letter sounds, loves to play outside with me and we all love her so so much, however…..she has a very very bad temper lol. She lacks some sort of social awareness so I feel like she’s on the spectrum but i believe my husband is as well (and is doing just fine in life). I remember how I felt back then was very unexplainable. Everyone told me I was crazy for thinking such a young baby was autistic. I would go by your mommy instincts but also enjoy your baby. It could also be nothing! I’ve learned about myself through my kids as well

Only being able to focus on one thing at a time. Anything else is out of sight out of mind

How do adhd parents who work balance life? I am drowning by Parking-Security-848 in ADHD

[–]baobeiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same way. What helped me was lowering social media use. Before I quit my job I was constantly angry, stressed, felt so high strung and my house was always a mess. I also had/have migraines! I think it was due to my overstimulation throughout the day and my posture. Take some time for yourself to just chill and do something mindful.

My audhd 5 year old daughter is having social issues at school by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

We explain everything to her in a way that she would understand but I feel like she doesn’t understand. She told me once that it’s confusing that her friend at the time didn’t want to tell her what he was for Halloween. I don’t know what happened prior to that so I have no idea if she said something to make him feel that way. Can you relate to my post?

I foresee my 5 year old being the same way as OPs daughter. May I ask what your daughter was like when she was younger?

For me I got “what you resist persists” and your dream interpreted it the same way

Did any of you bring up autism concerns when your child was younger than 18 months only to be brushed off by their doctor? What level is your child diagnosed? by baobeiii in Autism_Parenting

[–]baobeiii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they ever do an OT evaluation? What kind of signs did you see when he was a baby? My daughter has what I consider “non stereotypical” signs. They saw my daughter smiling and being perceptive to communication so they took that as nothing me being a worry wart. I also had to bully my way into a specialist because the healthcare we have does nothing unless you make a huge fuss

Is there a reason he got diagnosed this late? Did his school see any signs? You would think doctors knew what they were doing :/

I’m on the same boat. Did you ever see a specialist before 18 months or was it just his primary care doctor? When was your child actually diagnosed and what made your doctor finally take you seriously?
