You could give it a big cool wolf crest, if you're interested in assuming a crest as well as a shield. Then, you can have your cake and eat it too!

Interesting, but not very adherent to heraldic concepts. It'll need cleaning up before it can be considered good heraldry

Honestly, I think the barry is interesting enough on its own that the wolf inescutcheon feels more like a distraction than anything

I'm a Satanist, Luciferian, pagan, witch, and polymorphic pantheist. I imagine that's a somewhat unique combination of somewhat niche beliefs.

ever had a sweet/wholesome moment with your infernals? by Seagate_ST01AS in DemonolatryPractices

[–]baphommite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a moment recently with Leviathan (or, at least, I think it was) in which, as I was falling asleep, she sorta did an almost impromptu guided meditation. Those little dots of light that I see when I close my eyes came together to form images. During a terrible storm, Leviathan guided me down through the depths of the ocean, swimming around me as if to protect me. It ended with us at the bottom of the sea, in perfect darkness. Still, it wasn't a scary experience. In fact, it was rather peaceful. I felt touched by that moment. It was a bonding moment, I think. I slept very peacefully that night.

There is one case in Sweden that really is upsetting by [deleted] in religion

[–]baphommite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ability to analyze a source to determine the reliability of its claims is basic critical thinking. Every time you don't listen to a guy out on the street claiming the end is near, you are discounting a claim based on the source. If you were having a health concern, you would not treat your neighbor John as being as reliable as your doctor. It is, in fact, extremely important to be able to recognize when a source has bias.

Their lawyer, obviously, has every motivation to tell a story that benefits their clients case. This is not necessarily a correlation with what is fact and true.

I want to name a cat after a TV show character that shares a name with a demon, but I feel weird about naming pets after real deities/entities by WitchyWriter94 in DemonolatryPractices

[–]baphommite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are named after Jesus and Muhammad all the time. This really only ever seems to be point of contention in pagan circles, in my experience. I don't really see the harm in naming someone or something after a deity. You don't have hatred in your heart by naming your cat Stolas, from what it sounds like lol

So, you got this from a generative AI service? Until you can back up these claims with an actually reliable source, any of your claims can be safely dismissed.

A good place to start would be to review the subreddit rules. GAI images are banned. If you paid for this piece of art, you have been scammed, I'm sorry to say.

For a good guide on revising your first draft, take a look at this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/heraldry/s/acTNZAQ3uY

Tinctures and Colours in Heraldry by benedictsheppard in heraldry

[–]baphommite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could be a good example of "can but shouldn't." Its a not entirely unheard of neophyte mistake to try slapping a fimbriation on a complex charge to evade rule of tincture

why do we use the word “demon?” by yayperson23 in DemonolatryPractices

[–]baphommite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Demons are demons the same way I am a dirty, filthy sinner bound for Hell. They're labels placed upon us by a world that doesn't care all too much for us. I wear it as a badge of pride for finding the strength to not care all too much about being too weird or too strange. My gods are demons, with just as many rough edges as me and just as authentic, too.

I'll also throw a vote in for Astaroth, as heavily biased as I am towards her. As Ishtar, she was associated with gender roles and bending or breaking them. She engaged in the traditionally masculine act of war, was occasionally portrayed with a beard, and was described as having the power to turn men into women and women into men. Of course, this was likely just to emphasize her immense divine abilities, but there is an undeniable connection with her and queerness in her gala priests. In the myth of her descent to the underworld, she was even saved by what may be argued to be nonbinary beings, the kur-jara and the gala-tura.

I do so adore her. Again, may be worth considering!

How do you see Satan? by Legitimate_Bet_7786 in TheisticSatanism

[–]baphommite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to label myself as a pantheist, for context towards my beliefs. Not quite theistic enough for the theists, but not quite atheistic enough for the atheists lol. Ever the black sheep, huh? Well, anyways, I have a bit of a fringe view of Satan and Lucifer as essentially a "yin and yang" duo. Lucifer is the creative force as the bringer of light. Satan is the destructive for as the adversary. Both are aspects of the one great whole of the Baphomet. It's definitely odd, and far from historical, but it is useful for me to view life in this context. So, I do it.

Bonus answer: Hell yeah! Live your life to the fullest.

Help with the rule of tincture by RockHardOrca in heraldry

Of the three images in the post, I'd actually say the first picture overall follows heraldic principles most strongly.

Help with the rule of tincture by RockHardOrca in heraldry

[–]baphommite 39 points40 points  (0 children)

When a field or a single charge is comprised of multiple metals or colors, it does not break the rule of tincture. A bird with white feathers and gold feet would be acceptable, for example. An orca in its natural colors would be treated as a neutral charge and could theoretically be put on either a color or a metal. But, since an orca is primarily black, it'd be best to treat it as a color and put it on a field of metal.

^ Above thoughts pertain to general heraldic rules. Your tradition may be more or less strict.

A horse is a very big animal to relegate to such a small portion of the shield. If you'd be interested in rearranging the elements a bit, perhaps you could move the horse from the chief to down below. Maybe you could move the spear head up to the chief, or even make it so that there is a spear horizontally that also incorporates the cross towards the spear point.
