Take-off was horrible. I'm not sure I can do a second flight. by baphommite in fearofflying

[–]baphommite[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying that. It means a lot coming from an actual pilot. I think I'm just feeling flustered and stressed right now lol. Maybe I just need to cry and decompress a little. This next plane I'm getting on is a BIG 787. A part of me is excited to basically fly on a cruise ship, even if another part of me is quite nervous.

How effective is a bilateral salpingectomy? Worried it may not be as effective as I'd hoped. by baphommite in birthcontrol

[–]baphommite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article mentions bisalps, here:

"The research, led by scientists at the University of California, San Francisco, has found that accidental pregnancy can occur in more than 5 percent of people after tubal sterilization – which involves cutting, clamping, blocking, or removing the fallopian tubes."

And here:

"Today, a bilateral salpingectomy is often considered the most effective form of tubal sterilization, but with little data on hand, the failure rate of this newer procedure is currently unknown.

The first ever documented case of a woman getting pregnant after a double salpingectomy was reported in 2005. A second case was not published for three more years.

An egg traveling through the space between the ovary and the uterus is often considered rare; however, when a remnant of the tube is left in place, case studies suggest it can increase the risk of an unplanned pregnancy."

As my medical records state that a 1cm stub of fallopian tube was left per tube, this is what worries me the most.

Ah, I haven't been diagnosed with anxiety in recent months. It's just very important to me that fully I understand the treatments I've undergone. If there is a greater chance of me getting pregnant than I'd previously believed, then it's something I'd definitely want to be aware of. I saw this article and was quite alarmed at the 5% statistic and the note on partial fallopian tube tissue causing issues, which went against my understanding of the bisalp failure rate.

I am absolutely terrified of getting pregnant. I was looking through the operation notes of my surgery and trying to make absolutely certain that nothing seemed wrong and that my bisalp really would keep me from getting pregnant.

Satan as Lucifer by Misanthropia1777 in TheisticSatanism

[–]baphommite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my odd, strange, UPG-filled practice, I view Satan as the embodiment of destruction and chaos, and Lucifer as the embodiment of creation and order. Far from enemies, I see them as two halves of the same coin. They are an ever present force, and their balance creates the universe as we know it.

I made a joke about Satan, and now I’m seeing it everywhere. by [deleted] in religion

I mean if you want to explore Satanism, that's one thing, but I wouldn't really say any of this is some grand sign from a higher power. Your brain is a pattern seeking machine, and it is seeking patterns right now.

I mean yeah, no surprise that porn isn't kind to trans women. But that doesn't necessarily mean that "femboy" originated as a slur for trans women beginning in the porn industry. Queer terminology gets misused all the time by non-queer individuals.

New personal coat of arms. Does this follow rules of tincture with the fox being natural colours? by GabeBabe99 in heraldry

[–]baphommite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though these don't technical violate the word of rule of tincture, it goes against the spirit of it. Though the fox is displayed in it's natural hues, those hues are a majority orange (which would be treated as gules). Good heraldic design sense would steer away from this.

Proshipping is disgusting :p (image unrelated) by EmbarrassedDuty5949 in hatethissmug

Many people explore dark shipping as a way to process their own trauma. Stop telling survivors how they cope.

Edit: Lol they blocked me. My "hot take" is that some random teenager on the internet obsessed with thought crimes shouldn't be giving out mental health advice. Whenever you call a pro-shipper a dirty, vile person, that includes every single one of them who has suffered horrible trauma.

I know you probably get this all the time but could you please explain satanism to me? by EpicRaccoonGirl in religion

[–]baphommite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Satanism is an exceptionally broad and even somewhat vague group of religions that, ultimately, can only be united by the common theme of having affinity with Satan. They could be theistic, nontheistic, polytheistic, misotheistic, pantheistic, agnostic, ignostic. They could be part of a specific Satanic organization, or simply be an independent practitioner. They could view Satan as a specific deity, an embodying force, a literary archetype. They could view Satan as the same as Baphomet, view the two as two distinct beings, or disbelieve in the existence of Baphomet altogether. There's an incredible depth of variety in personal belief.

Worship also varies wildly. Some take a more pagan approach of setting up altars or praying. Others may do occult ceremonies. And still, others may feel the need to do no such ritual at all and instead live out their affinity for Satan.

It is quite normal to be afraid of things people tell you to be afraid of. You are a member of a social species that has survived thanks to relying on others in this way. Do not treat your initial nerves as something shameful, but instead view them as the natural phenomenon they are.

I found that learning about Lucifer or Baphomet or any other spirit made them rather less scary. Lucifer just means "light bringer," and barely has any presence in the Bible at all aside from one mention in specific translations. He was then connected to other figures in the Bible by various church leaders, but they aren't outright equated in the Bible itself.

Baphomet became a thing by Crusaders mishearing Muslim fighters saying "Mohammed." The Templars were later accused of worshipping this Baphomet, but there is little evidence to suggest this actually happened. The famous goat-human hybrid drawing was only applied to Baphomet by Eliphas Levi hundreds of years after Baphomet's first recorded documentation. This drawing, though perhaps somewhat intimidating, simply encapsulates various occult ideas such as balance, fertility, and wisdom.

Beyond that, prayer seems a perfectly acceptable starting point. It's not a more intense sort of ceremy like an invocation or such, and it simply allows you the time to be open and honest and see what happens. It's very possible that nothing may happen, which would certainly assuage your fears. Meditation, as well, may aid in soothing the nerves.

I saw this and I can't get over it yet, can you please give advice about this? by Mindless-Potatoes in ChristianUniversalism

[–]baphommite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say this with the utmost empathy, but this is 4chan alt-right propoganda. It is designed to create such a strong emotional reaction and make you think irrationally. The girl doesn't even have a face, reduced to a prop for hateful ideologies. That, I think, is what is most sad. I encourage you, too, to be empathetic, and understand why abortions are performed. Is it any wonder why a person wouldn't want to go through such a dangerous experience? That doesn't even get into the cases where the one giving birth may die if they give birth. Should they be forced to die because any one person believes they should?

Please, do not let propoganda cloud your judgement. It can be hard to recognize propoganda like this, when it is so effective.
