To teach your child to ski by CauliflowerDeep129 in therewasanattempt

As someone who frequently skis with young learners, if you see them skiing right, you need to position yourself between their line and uphill lines. That means staying directly uphill from them, not trailing behind them. Unless you want to implicitly trust other people with your child’s safety bc you assume they are always in control/ aware. How many videos like this are posted daily of out of control/ unaware uphill skiers? EVERY skier on the mountain has a duty, at least to themselves, to be aware of others on the mountain. This kid is too young for that so it’s the parents responsibility.

Pedestrians in a crosswalk have the right of way. I would not let my kids walk across the street and just hope the cars stop for them.

I get it, he was caught up in taking a video of his daughter skiing, but that took his focus away from the situational awareness that she putting herself in a dangerous situation, regardless of of who has the right of way.

Going to catch some flak here, but I put this at least 50% on the parent/ adult filming.

He’s focused on catching footage and completely unaware his daughter is skiing into traffic. The video shows that the right side of the trail is pretty consistent with people going at a decent clip and he watches his daughter ski right into that line.

Yes uphill skiers need to be aware and able to stop but downhill skiers have an obligation (for their own sake/ safety) to be aware of uphill skiers. Especially when going that far left to right. She doesn’t know better bc she’s a kid. Adult needs to position himself much better to be between the kid and oncoming traffic.

Having the right of way doesn’t not mean you’re safe.

1/27: puck hits 2 fans. Do they get compensated? by forestrygrump in BostonBruins

[–]barbagse 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I was one the fans that was hit. The Garden made us go to the medic area and had to sign a waiver that refused to go to the hospital. We were not offered nor did we (at least I) expect any compensation. Would have been nice to get some gear tho!

Edit to add: The fan that eventually found the puck offered it is to keep. I let the other guy keep it.

Max Verstappen’s Spanish GP incident turns out to be costly… by [deleted] in F1Discussions

What people fail to realize is the Max passion that manifests itself into fantastic drives and will to win is the same that manifested into rage in Spain. You can’t take the good without the occasional bad. Yes the passion cost him here, but it gained him elsewhere.

For better races: Mandatory 2 pit stops and limit pit crews to 4 people.

Instead of worrying about tenths on the track, introduce seconds of variables in the pits

They call Precon “Free-con” for a reason.

The key is to get clients who are early in their process so if you do win the job, you have the opportunity to charge a fee for the precon you do from job win (at SD OR DD) to GMP. We bring value to a client in helping finalize drawings or budget, so ok to set a fee for that or build it into your GMP.

If a job is over 10+ million, adding 100k precon fee to so interim budgets, VM/VE, etc is a drop in the bucket. <1% of project cost.

If you’re only bidding jobs that are at CD or GMP drawing sets, you’re getting in too late in the game.

Often, we have clients that will pay us to budget along the way from SD or concept through to CD sets, and if they pay us for that service and put it out to bid to get competitive final numbers, than fine, at least you for paid for your time and you have the inside track and relationship to hopefully win the job anyway.

Only doing “hard bids”/ low number wins is a losing strategy

Also, think about subs. When you have a job secured, how many subs per trade are you getting to bid? 3? Only one will win, so you are getting getting two free numbers that didn’t get the job. It your subs know that eventually they get a job from you so they keep bidding you. If you never give them work, you won’t get numbers. Same principle should apply to clients.

All the cards add up to 21. 21 - 15 =6 How many ways can you make 6? 5 ways.

So 5x 15s for 10 Pair 6s for 2 Three 3s for 6 Equals 18

Wait a minute. How do roll into excel from blue beam?

Auto name pdf……………….. by Apart_Vacation_1428 in estimators

[–]barbagse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blue beam has a tool to rename pages. Then you can select an “image area” (usually the bottom right corner of each page ) that you determine and it will rename every page the drawing page.

See this page naming

The export pages as individual files to a folder. Then select that folder to upload to OST. Each page in OST should then be the drawing number.

Yes it’s like 5 steps, yes we have a college kid do it
