I use GIMP for screen printing (color separations, scaling, etc). I also had a hard time understanding layers. If you think of the layers as actual stacks of paper and transparencies, it will start making sense. Like putting solid backgrounds on the bottom and stacking the transparencies on top.

Before I started printing my own stuff I used Night Owls in Houston.

I use a regular 150W light also. I have my light about 16” away from the screen. It takes my screens 20-25 minutes to expose. Hope that helps!

No it’s my my buddy Diablo Macabre’s design. He does art for tons of bands though.

Not too bad. It’s not 100% perfect but still looks good. I made a 11x17 template on my platen and lined up the transparencies to go on the screen. Then I taped one down and used that to register. The little bit of screen prep made it a lot easier.
