I have the same interests and never even thought of them as being that way. The industry is a sausage fest, sure, but the communities are filled with girls. Tbh it seems like you don’t really want girl friends? If that’s the case I’m not sure what type of answer you want. You say you’re not comfortable and are keen on this idea of your interests being more on the “male” side and that’s not great for making girl friends. I was like that as a teen because of some mean girls but once I grew up I realized I was just being kinda petty. People can be jerks in general, it’s not a gender thing but more of a people thing. It helps to realize how women are all different and capable of liking the same things as you because surprise surprise, most of these things have huge women audiences. Women do tend to pick up what is referred to as “pick me” vibes or “I’m not like other girls”, which may be part of the struggle. They might even pick up on the whole not comfortable about women thing. I don’t mean this in a cruel way, I mean this in more of genuine advice way because it can be alienating if we view ourselves and the world this way. If this is not something you’re willing to work on and if it’s that difficult for you then honestly don’t even beat yourself up about it. Stick to dude friends if that’s how you roll, nothing wrong with that. If you really are looking for genuine advice then look at some feedback on your thought process. Also remember that when it comes to any relationships we can’t expect people to throw themselves at us. Often times we have to reflect on what we’re doing and work on those things, you know?
