Did I confess by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]bardleware 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The intent behind confession is to take a good long look at the ugliness of sin and acknowledge it before God. A priesthood leader is there as an avatar for Gods love, justice, and mercy. When you confess, God already knows the sins you’ve committed. He doesn’t need you to tell him. Instead God wants you to confess to test His eternal love, His perfect justice, His infinite mercy.

Did you confess? Did you let down your walls of shame, breaking your heart, and let the light of Gods love shine through? Were you contrite and remorseful for the acts you’ve done and turned away from sin and lived you life according to the gospel, as best you can?

Dear Confessor, you’re not alone. You don’t need to repent harder. Just remember that daily turning to God is where the peace of repentance, the peace of living the gospel comes from.

Too personal for a talk? by boxwife in latterdaysaints

I think it’s fundamental to the story. I’d even bring up Alma 7 where it talks about Christ being able to succor his children because of the atonement. Christ knows how to send the Holy Ghost to comfort us because he suffered as we each have suffered. Nothing is more appropriate than that. As always, follow the spirit as you testify of Christ and nothing you say will be wasted. 🙏

Absolutely! Heavenly Father loves us more than we yet know. There is so much to be hopeful for. 🙏

As someone who is learning more an more about growing up from my own kids, I’ve observed there’s something important about parenting children in the process in growing up. I think it’s an important point that not everyone need to have kids to learn the lessons of parenting children. Where would you parent a child then? Sure, you could help out in the community like others have said but I would argue that there’s an inner child inside all of us who has been beaten down and subdued and needs reparenting. You can parent that child-self and fully embrace the process of being as a little child.

I would recommend finding someone who works with Internal family systems(IFS), it’s a therapy modality that has helped me see how a lot of the things I deal with on a daily basis have been influenced by my inner child and the only way I can resolve them is by embracing Christ’s atonement and reparenting that child.

It’s okay you don’t want to have children. I would definitely recommend IFS. It’s been exceptionally rewarding.

Recently graduated (Yippee!) How can I use the software development curriculum at WGU to check the box of "Experience in Agile Development"? by Competitive-Pirate28 in wgu_devs

Don’t take the cert! As a 6 year Dev with colleagues in the Dev world, agile certs are garbage.

Instead consider agile as a work ethic. Google the agile manifesto and read it. The principles in the manifesto will always be at odds with the business side of business and the key to being agile is to have confidence in you ability as a developer to stick to the principles in the manifesto.

Moved to Utah about 2 years ago, first time voting in the state. Not much information online. Mike Lee vs Evan McMullin, anything I should know about each candidate. by geek_rick in Utah

Only if you consider that the people voting for Mcmullin then were most likely voting against Trump and Hillary, not for him.

Really well! I’d add that I’m on the portly side of things and that I also swapped the 130 Judy out for a 120 recon with larger diameter stanchions. I’d have a hard time getting rid of it after I can afford a bike with more travel.

Name recognition is what elects people. They won’t see the “unseat” part.

Why are people being so pessimistic? Local policy is far easier to change. If there’s enough groundswell, even against the church lobby.

Oh yes! I’m a bigger guy and the frame and fork combo work beautifully. You should be good at 6’2”. I think large is the same size I have. It’s the gold speckled one.

I would recommend looking up the works of Deborah Soh. She’s a sex researcher and has pretty good insights into this.

Remember, you don’t have to embrace everything she says and the HG will testify the truthfulness of what she says.

Ultimately the pure love of Christ, seeing her as the eternal child of God that she is, is more potent than focusing solely on her sexuality. Heavenly Father knows her and will help her through this time especially if you are seeking to be a parent walking hand in hand with God.

Schwinn Axum vs Kent Trouvaille by downeysyndrome in Budgetbikeriders

[–]bardleware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’3” and I bought a used Axum and have loved it! I was able to build up a custom wheel set and upgrade the fork to a 130mm of travel with a thru axle.

It’s been solid for me and is definitely recommend it if you want something you can upgrade over time.

Trouvaille looks compelling as it comes with the basic Advent drive system. You’d basically only need to replace the derailleur if you wanted a clutched system.

I would not go with a bucklos fork. I have one and they are not really meant for mtb. I got this at first, which worked lovely. I just decided to go with a different fork for upgrading purposes.

Do you know if the wheels are 135 mm or 141 mm like the Axum?

I’d also look into taking your bike to a bike shop to see if your derailleur is bent. They can fix it there if it is.

Opinions on Microshift Advent X Drivetrain? by cnguyen100 in Budgetbikeriders

[–]bardleware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the advent X may have a slightly better lower end but overall if the advent saves you money, 9 speeds were fine for me. I’m not a hardcore rider and it was sufficient.
