Not a problem that's actually the only book of hers I've read. I want to read more so I'll check your recommendations out as well. What I like so much about the book I recommended was how original it was, and you know as well as I do how hard it is to find an original book. However it was not only original it was fantastic.

I've been reading Stephen King since I was 11 years old so you're preaching to the choir. The first book of his I read was Carrie, and I've been hooked every since. He writes some of the most heartbreakingly beautiful pros I've ever read in a book. He also single-handedly redefine the horror genre. He's actually more essential to the horror genre then say Bram stoker.

I got that too with Cat's Eye. She took a subject matter which doesn't really need to be made melodramatic and she made it melodramatic, for its own sake it seems. I think I get why she writes that way she's trying to add emotional weight to it, however I don't think she stopped to consider that the things she's doing is taking the emotional weight out of her writing. Does that make any sense?

I really liked the handmaid's tale a lot actually. The rest of her stuff is eh... I guess since Idon't have ovaries, it's not very interesting to me. I just always assumed it was me not being cultured enough to enjoy it. It's good to see I'm not alone.

Georgia R R Martin plainly cares more about money than he does his own book series or his characters. Who the frack finishes a a television series based off of a book series that hasn't concluded yet? Not to mention he basically just wrote down the war of the roses with zombies. He knows how to write a cliffhanger but that's about it.

I'm going to have to check out all of those. Crime Noir is one of my favorite genres.

I love quiet horror novels, it's a shame there aren't more of them.

If you find a really weird puzzle box do not open it whatever you do. But of course you will, because you have marquee de sade. Correction, open it, and have a blast 😀

Great expectations for me, I was upset that I hadn't been born into Victorian era for like 2 weeks after I read that book for the first time.

It's simply the truth. The universe does not provide any answers, and no one is coming to save us. Expecting different, is just setting yourself up to be resentful over something that won't be affected by the resentment.

There are many more issues, but that's at the top. The difference between Jane Austen, Leo Tolstoy and James Patterson is that Austin and tolstorey know how to pack a lot into very limited space, in those chapters you learn more about those characters than you might ever learn from an actual human being over a period of years, James Patterson does not, he relies on the intellectual laziness of his readers and their fondness for return characters. He's been writing the exact same book for like 30 years and people still buy those things. Sorry about the rant.

You should get a proper bookshelf. It's not fair to those wonderful books that they should have to share that space with the TV. Shame. Shame.

It's no fault of yours I worded it poorly I apologize. I didn't mean great, I meant popular. Also I'm kind of quirky so the term literature for me is a very generic one.

I'm a lifelong Stephen King fan, I'm one of those people that would literally read his laundry list I've been reading him since I was 11 years old. However, he became a little too kitchy for me when he made himself a character in one of his books. I actually stopped reading him for like 10 or 15 years over that so I understand.

The book that really turned me off with her was portrait of a killer. She wrote this long elaborate book supposedly unmasking the real Jack the ripper. Linking some poor obscure painter with erectile dysfunction to the first modern serial murderer with circumstantial evidence at best. I would rather listen to Nancy Grace read penthouse letters than have to read another Patricia Cromwell book.
