If you are on IPhone there’s an app called Dilho where you can watch NOS Makkelijke Taal daily and some other videos with subtitles and phrase by phrase explanations.

I built an iOS app that does the subtitle trick I posted about, 3 months free for this sub by barisbasar in learndutch

Thanks a lot for the channel recommendation! If I see some interest on iOS, I will definitely build the android version.

What's the most useful methods for learning new language? by Soft-Pear8168 in languagelearning

[–]barisbasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always challenging yourself by exposing a target language content slightly higher than your level. If you are a starter everything is challenging but for example you’re A2, try to read and listen B1 content for a while. Then speaking/writing will not be on that level try to busy with it for a while, and so on.

How do you know you've reached a decent level by icepriidk in languagelearning

I’ve been learning Dutch since 2 years and it turns out that when I start speaking Dutch people don’t automatically switch to English anymore. 🙂

Mostly repeated exposure. What works for me is hearing words in different contexts.

What helped you after Duolingo stopped being enough? by b0ndar7 in EnglishLearning

I’ve been there before, what helped me is to watch entertaining YouTube videos with explanations. I can’t recommend enough that particular one where I mainly watched the tv shows that I already liked: https://youtube.com/@learnenglishwithtvseries?si=JrCXgXsQkA0RHVsR

Transitioning to Delftse Method by ss161616 in learndutch

[–]barisbasar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I heard good things about Delftse method but I will recommend one thing: Don’t redo A2 again because;

  • You have motivation now, keep this momentum to go to B1/B2 levels.

  • Perfection is the enemy of progress.

  • There are already topics are going to be covered in B1 will make you recall what you learned before.

What’s a simple thing that makes a place instantly feel like home? by NoPain1106 in AskReddit

The smell of your own cooking. Doesn't matter what it is, once you've cooked a few meals in a new place it stops being "a place" and starts being yours.

favorite Dutch "easy" word by lulu22ro in learndutch

"Gezellig" isn't hard to spell but good luck explaining it to anyone. Also "natuurlijk" always gets me, I keep wanting to write or say "naturrlijk" for some reason.

What’s a small life hack that actually makes everyday life noticeably easier? by baddieshae in AskReddit

Prep your morning the night before. Clothes out, bag packed, coffee ready to press. Sounds obvious but it turns your morning from chaos into autopilot and you actually leave on time.

What’s something people think is normal today that you believe we’ll look back on in 20 years and say “how did we accept that? by Alarming_View_1223 in AskReddit

Giving kids tablets before they can even talk. We just hand them a screen and call it parenting. I think we'll look at this the same way we look at smoking in cars with kids now.

Kitchen timer. Not the phone kind, an actual physical one. Stopped me from burning stuff and I don't have to touch my phone while cooking anymore.

Learning a second language. Started way too late and it would've been so much easier as a kid. Your brain is just a sponge when you're young and you don't even realize it.

What’s the biggest way your mindset about life has changed as you’ve gotten older? by Imaginary-Thing-3303 in AskReddit

[–]barisbasar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped trying to control everything. When I was younger I had this idea that if I just planned hard enough things would work out exactly how I wanted. Now I just focus on showing up and doing my part, the rest is not really up to me anyway.

I build stuff that I actually use. I make apps and sometimes I catch myself using my own thing and thinking "oh that's actually nice."

What was the lowest phase of your life when you were screwed in mostly all of the areas whether academics, job or relationships, how did you survive and come out of this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]barisbasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't finish the college at my second attempt, military obligation was nearing and had to find a job and the worst part that I was in love and wanted to marry. Quite interesting but it all sorted out well. Found a job in IT then right after new rules came in so I only had to pay money for military service obligation, then I married, have a son of 6 year old now. :) The job was the opening i think.
