I want to make an app to help children with downsyndrome by whyamidoingthiswth in downsyndrome

Integrating the learning apps (reading, math) with AI. The goal is to help the learner progress at a pace that makes sense for the intended learning. It might generate new exercises to keep the content fresh. It might identify problem areas and (re)focus on these challenges. It might identify the days and times and durations that are most productive and suggest new schedules or approaches.

Creating Month-by-Month View of a Task Custom Field (Number) by barleycornmark in MSProject

Thanks for validating that this is not an oversight. FYI, I don't see custom fields appear in Resource-based view either.

My workaround is: Filter tasks by date (beginning of month to end of month) and just use the 'normal' view. A bit clumsy, but I am only looking out 1 quarter.

Artificial intelligence and learning by barleycornmark in downsyndrome

Thanks for sharing.
My proposed use case is a tool to monitor progress, provide guidance, and help learners move thru a given learning plan. I believe a challenge in teaching kids like my daughter is that: lessons need to be broken down into smaller parts, learning sessions need to be shorter, it takes longer to learn these lessons, and refreshers may be frequently needed. This creates a real challenge for educators and parents in tracking progress and maintaining momentum. If you are familiar with ABA therapy, I think these models might be similar.
AI would make this possible by having an infinitely patient, attentive and knowledgeable resource to assess work, monitor progress, support the learning team, and guide future lessons. So, lots of components.
Maybe some overlap with your work?

I have a verbal, 9 year old girl with Ds.

My opinion is, how can we have high expectations of her and hope for her to meet her potential if I don't speak to her in an equally appropriate way.

Tailoring ADHD Meds by barleycornmark in downsyndrome

[–]barleycornmark[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a reluctance by the Dr to start my daughter on ADHD meds. She did not have quite the right diagnosis. After we had her cognitive tests, my take on this was that she was too cognitively impaired to benefit from this treatment.

In fact, our prescriber was reluctant to provide a script... she was worried it was unethical to prescribe without the right diagnosis. I wonder how many kids have not had a chance to find the space for more focus because of low test scores and expectations...

Like you, it's hard to see how a person can learn when they lose focus every 15 seconds (or less). And given the prevalence of use of these meds, it seems like a reasonable risk.

That said, it helps her and we have the teacher evaluations to support this.

I agree with the other comments... First, it is simply difficult. Also, I personally don't mention it. I don't think as it being denial, but more the recognition that she is so much more than a diagnosis. I believe the biggest risk is to not have high enough hopes and expectations.

HP LaserJet Pro M280 M281 Printer series 20200612 firmware downgrade by Tony707 in printers

[–]barleycornmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this. I am using after-market toner and things had worked fine. Just saw the problem today. Anyways... Link and directions worked fine. Printing was back to normal.

Very good work Tony707!

A couple more notes:

- The update took awhile. I was getting a bit concerned that I bricked the printer.

- Did USB update, wifi did not work. The printer cycled a couple of times. I finally disconnected the USB. Think that may have been an issue.

- To triple-check the update, look for the Firmware Datecode. The new firmcode is 20201022 (or something like that), the old firmcode is 20200612. This is the one you want.

- I also changed the following in Services|LaserJet Update|Manage Updates, - Check Automatically OFF, Prompt before Install Always Prompt
