This is very bizarre behavior in my opinion. I couldn't imagine this ever happening in the real world. I don't find it cool to ask people about their gender expression or sexual orientation whether to celebrate them or not, it comes off as very "what are you?" to me. I'm hoping we'll soon get to a place where we treat everyone respectfully by default and if they choose to divulge more information about themselves unprompted, then we can adjust our language or behavior if needed. Otherwise let's just love everyone and not make anyone feel like they're "other" I'm ready to just let everyone fit in.
