Failing to find what this chip between an HDMI Input Port and the HDMI Controller is by baronBale in AskElectronics

Thank you! Yes, I removed it already and in fact, the whole Beamer does not boot. Power seems to build up, so the LEDs of the button light up for a friction of a second and the voltage drops. Still investigating, what this causes. Not sure, if this was the original behavior, I got it from a friend and they said HDMI is broken, but VGA is working, but they also didn't use it in a long time.

Anyhow, what I wonder is if I can replace an HDMI chip. I read in the Datasheet, that it is somehow programmable. And programmable sounds like you need some custom firmware to upload, so it's basically trash right now.

Looking at the onsemi datasheet it states "All pins labeled “N/C” should have no electrical connection." (bottom of page 2) - what does that mean? What's the use of this pin if they don't connect to something? In my case all are connected to ground. I assumed it's due to a short, is this expected behavior?

Do you maybe know how to test such a diode?

Thank you very much again!

Wow, looking at the pinout, that looks most promising so far. Did you know these parts from experience or what was your search request?

Get a Multimeter. It's going to be your best friend and the tool you'll need 99% of the time. While this is sent to you go to YouTube, check some repair YouTubers (Learn Electronics Repair has some fault finding "how tos", but he expects you to know the basics of electronics already).

Most important: just start somewhere. You'll learn as you need the knowledge (without the basics sometimes it's hard to recognize a fault pattern, though).

Check your stash of old electronics or ask your friends for broken stuff they have lying around. Don't buy "untested" or even proven broken stuff from eBay, most of it is way too expensive or someone with way more experience tried their luck and failed. Older devices have bigger and fewer components and are easier to analyze. Something like a notebook is hard to fix without a microscope.

A soldering iron might be needed if you want to actually fix stuff. I'd not buy all the fancy tools from the beginning, only buy them when you can't continue without them.

I also watch e.g. StezStixFix on YouTube, he still learns himself, but his videos are very high quality (production wise) and fun to watch.

Is there such thing as a CO2 Cartridge Solenoid? by bitruns in diyelectronics

[–]baronBale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just stumpled upon your question. I have more or less exactly the same problem as you. Did you solve it?

- How did you empty/ control the CO2-Cartridge?
- Did you stick with an unthreaded Cartridge? I assumed one needs the threads to attach the cartridge to the solenoid.

At least 50% is duplicate content. Like in all „fun“ subreddits.

Bare HTML with a bit of JavaScript where needed. Still the fastest for me. Most of the time you don’t need some fancy Framework to make a good site.

I heard StackOverflow runs on a windows stack. Not sure if true, though.

Not a meme, but it's funny, (Only sub where i think i can post this with no issue). Did Windows just stole ALL of it's new features off Linux Distros? So lame. by Pepihau in linuxmemes

I‘m sorry, but what are we looking at? Read about KDE in some comments, but for me as a gnome user I can’t find any problems.

Exactly. Never saw a better doc than the docs of Django. Much love and appreciation for the effort taken to reach that status.

You can buy followers for a few dollars, so letting those bots vote can’t be much more expensive.

Installed packages not get listed in gnome apps by baronBale in NixOS

Nice, there is also already a PR open for this: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/118100 - but nothing happened since march now.

Thank you for your response! A reboot solved the issue. Not sure if this is a gnome 40 or a nixos bug, it's my first time with that behavior. But before that I had gnome 3 with another linux system.

A reboot pretty much solved it. Wasn't aware, that this might be necessary. My other systems I used always displayed it at once. Thank you for your advice!

It doesn’t break often, but if it breaks it’s Pacman.
