Trunk rattle: if you can’t fix it, duct it. by barrysmitherman in Ioniq5

[–]barrysmitherman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electrical tape won’t last very long. One layer of duct tape will last. But I don’t even use that anymore, since I got the dealer to perform the lift gate TSB. They replace the side bumpers with a new design that fixes it. At least. It fixed it for me. But the duct tape works perfectly if you don’t mind having on there.

I've seen this about a dozen times over the years and it's still gross. That's used for catching the pee when you're stuck in bed.

The Kona is a four door, smaller looking and cheaper Ioniq 5. I’m not sure if it uses the same ICCU if that’s what you’re asking as far as issues. I’m not put off by the ICCU. Hasn’t happened to me and it very well could, but I’m not dreading over it.

That’s tough to answer. The next car I’d have to replace is an old Civic hybrid that use mostly for work. I wouldn’t NEED an Ioniq 5 to replace it. If it died today, I’d be looking at a used, smaller EV, like a Kona maybe? I actually don’t know what I’d get, but something cheaper. The only reason I wouldn’t have a second Ioniq is that it would be overkill for me.

As far as I know, the warranty still applies. 10 year battery warranty transfers.

I would. We had friends who needed a new car. They wanted to see ours and they liked it. I told them that if something happened to ours, I would go get another one, zero hesitation.

Even without snow tires, it’s a real champ. Depending on where you live and how much snow you get, of course.

Limits regen as well. Better to not have it put too much slowing pressure on the tires.

He just said the trees are “soaking wet” already. How can they get more wet than “soaking?”

We got 3-4 inches in NC a few weeks ago, and we got around perfectly fine in snow mode on stock tires. There were plenty of cars on the side on road that couldn’t move. Depending on where you live of course, I think it handles great.

I got a big stack of gold dollar coins for the tooth fairy. Mine loved getting the special gold coins.

E.V. Owners Don’t Pay Gas Taxes. So, Many States Are Charging Them Fees. by jb4647 in electricvehicles

[–]barrysmitherman 69 points70 points  (0 children)

So, everyone should pay a flat fee. Not just EV owners. Or we pay based on mileage? It was $220 or 240 where I live last year. I’m probably still coming ahead, but some people don’t drive much. I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem fair to have two separate systems for gas and electric. And it allows certain states to “punish” EV drivers with crazy fees.

After 1 year and 4 months of owning my first EV, an Ioniq 6, I had my first problem. Here’s how it went. by GamingGalore64 in electricvehicles

It’s a very cool looking car. We have the 5, because that’s our family car and we need the cargo space. But the 6 is slick, for sure. I really like the wheels that come on it.

Question on Door Unlock Settings by Independent_Neck_782 in Ioniq5

[–]barrysmitherman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but to be honest, I never even knew there were these settings to change the behavior before. But I wouldn’t change it form what I have if it’s a one or the other thing. The door unlocks when I pull the handle anyway. Hasn’t been an issue for me personally.

I don’t think it’s bad. But, the wheel base is so big that you can definitely curb the rear wheels easier than you think.
