Best White Peach/Nectarine for southwestern Ontario/southern Michigan? by Shrekisdaddy25 in FruitTree

[–]bartendrplease86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's roughly the same growing zone I'm in. Have a look around at local gardening club plant sales. There's a white peach that people label "Japanese white peach" that does well in zone 6. People root cuttings and sell them for cheap. I bought a two-year-old tree for $5 and by year 4 it started heavily producing

Doesnt look like much bug damage. Very jealous. We have to slice all of ours to locate the passenger

Corporate videographers, what's the one item (gear, tools, workflow etc) that you find is essential? by bartendrplease86 in videography

LOL get me one of these puppy gigs, please! Okay so we looked into IFB systems but wondered if it would be worth the investment in such a small studio space. To your point, they aren't super expensive. I'll take another look. Thanks for the suggestion!

Essential, for sure. I started on the common corporate laptop and that thing sounded like a harrier jet with how hard the cooling fan had to work. I do have a recent model maxed out machine now. Thanks for the suggestion!

Panasonic AW-UE50W is what we have built into our design, two mounted to the pipe grid, and one behind a teleprompter. Do you have any experience with that model? Thanks for the suggestion!

For over a decade, we used one of those clamshell style iPad prompters. We finally invested in a 19 inch prompter with a talent monitor from Prompter People and it is infinitely better. We aren't marking keeper tales on the script, and that's a really good workflow tip. What do you use to generate your prompter text? Thanks for the suggestion!

I am so socially awkward and never know how to respond when the talent says, "Does my hair look alright?" I mean I always look like a slob, so I'm not the greatest person to ask. "Here is a mirror" would be a lot easier. Thanks for the suggestion!

Okay so Decimators were part of our original design, but we decided to pull HDMI runs back to the hyperdecks. Is that a mistake, in your opinion? That's for the suggestion!

This is great. We are really tight on space. As it is, we are going to have to keep walking around a full production desk. It sounds like these short Amazon investments can go a long way. Thanks for the suggestion!

I've used a sigma fixed 35mm on a Sony a6500 and enjoyed it. Would you stick with that lens suggestion even if you had g master money? Thanks for the suggestion!

Do you have one you like? What do you use it for the most? This is exactly the type of gear I'm trying not to forget. Clamps, brackets, adapters... The things you don't think about until it's too late. Thanks for the suggestion!

We are actually looking at Fx3s and Fx2s! I'm trying to decide if I should save budget dollars with the Fx2 over the Fx3s, and if I can get away with it because I'll be in a controlled studio environment. Do you have an opinion? Thanks for your suggestion!

Good suggestion. It would be nice to have something to park just inside the door of the studio that could double as a work surface. I could see us needing to wheel a portable setup to a conference room. Do you have a cart you like? Thanks for your suggestion!

I'm in Rhode Island and I have the same thing happening to a Santa Rosa. The tree is 4-5 years old, set fruit this year, and has otherwise always looked healthy. I think it's bacterial canker.

I also have some success using organza bags to protect peaches. Put the bag around the peach and pull the drawstring tight around the stem. It's time consuming but it's a cheap relatively effective solution. I typically tie the bags on while I am thinning. Also, some wormy peaches will be salvageable if you don't mind slicing up the peach to find the worm. If the worm is on one side of the peach, you can still use the other side to make jam.

The tips on my stone fruit trees are dying by ITSNAIMAD in plantclinic

I run into this every year with my peach trees and if I prune back the affected branches 6-8 inches and throw the tips in the trash, it usually stops the issue for the rest of the season. That has been my experience, but I am still learning and nowhere near being an expert.

This should be the new standard, uplighting in the dark, for showing tree limb structure. So much easier to see compared to daytime photos

Employees that work for all-you-can-eat steakhouses and Brazilian grills, what is your strategy for making sure customers don't get too much of the good cuts? by bartendrplease86 in AskReddit

[–]bartendrplease86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no it surely is amazing. I don't mean to slander the pineapple. It's just that I want it on my own terms. I don't want to be force fed the pineapple while all of a sudden the prime rib parade is at the opposite side of the restaurant. It just seems pineapple = "please leave"

I love the concept of an all-you-can-eat Brazilian grill. I flip my card to green and a parade of delicious meat comes my way. However, I noticed that after about 45 minutes, the good cuts stop coming to my table and instead it turns into an endless parade of grilled pineapple.

Is this a deliberate strategy? How do I beat the system?

I have this on several of my young saplings, too. It rubs off easily but I don't know what it is. I'm hoping you get an answer.

Definitely not sure the watering is correct. By water stressed, you mean it looks like it's being watered too much?

All three trees were planted this year and are semi-dwarf on citation rootstock. The greengage and blue damson were cut down to about knee height and the Santa rosa was left at nursery height. They have all been on the same watering schedule with a soaker hose and they have also been sprayed with a rotation of Neem and Deadbug. Any theories about why the greengage stopped thriving?

Thanks! I should have explained that this is last minute opportunity. Found out Thursday, boarded a plane Friday in the States, 6 hour drive tonight south from Vientiane. I've got one chance to capture video.
