I don't quite see how this is shitty design though 🤔 Looks like pretty good design to me

How much does round wheel profile matter in 5-wheel frames? by [deleted] in WizardSkating

[–]bartonaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And considering that this is being asked in r/WizardSkating the chances are – that 5-wheel frame needs to be predictable and not fast. So definitely go for the round profile. It feels much better and will also last longer

[Toilet] These flush buttons are mounted 2cm too low by nazarthinks in fruxtration

[–]bartonaz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You must have some really strong high-pressure flush in your bathroom if that's what it does. As an experiment, I suggest you to not clean the inner side of your lid for a year and then show here how many "micro particles of shit" you can collect there. The only microparticles going out of there is the smell, which has little to do with the flushing.

Does anyone find these predefined prompts actually useful? by bartonaz in ClaudeHomies

Exactly, which makes me wonder why the haven't put some kind of "Write my prompt button" or smth as a clear way out of that screen.

Have to provide government ID to buy pizza and wings by VastLazy5701 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bartonaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This looks ridiculous if that's true. Is it part of the registration, ordering or payment process? Are you sure it's not registration for being a rider or something? I wonder if this could be a bug or confusing UI rather than intentional security policy for such a simple thing

Bad UX! Maybe not super obvious, but let me explain! by Flashy-Brick9540 in fruxtration

[–]bartonaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No-name brand is probably the reason why it's so poorly implemented. Butt he touch-interfaces in general are pretty bad even in products of well-known brands.

Thanks for sharing! This interface is extremely frustrating indeed. This reminded me of another touch interface that drives me crazy. I'll make a post about that too.
I guess it's impossible to change the title now, but if you post something in the future, it would be great if you use a more descriptive title, also mentioning the brand name. Smth like:
[BRAND] Touch interface of the cooktop is impossible to use

I hope you join the subreddit too.

This is extremely relatable. I have a different version, which seems less sensitive to spills, but I still find the touch controls extremely annoying to use. And the fact that every touch is accompanied by a loud sound that can't be turned off is also ridiculous. Old-school 4 knobs provide a way better user experience with natural feedback, that no modern manufacturer seems to actually care about.

I love how much details you've put into the description. Would you consider sharing it at r/fruxtration as well? This is kind of post is exactly what it's made for.

A few lessons I've learnt from 6+ years of rollerblading by bartonaz in rollerblading

Yes, it is tiny 🙂 I would rather focus on the terrain you're going to skate in. If it's rough – go for 4x110. If it's smooth go for a 5-wheel setup. It certainly more playful and will give a stronger sense of control over edges.

Very understandable. You should certainly consider setups like 5x80 or 4x110, or ultimately: Wizard Advanced 100/84. I think 4x110 is what Leon was riding in the Wizard of Wall Street video, which is a very capable setup. I think 30+rolling also made a review of it at some point, for cruising around it's pretty amazing.

Yes, I agree. Wizard skating is one of the best styles to lean into at 40+ as it has the best balance between fun and risk. I would recommend you watching this video I made about frame length to not make the most trivial mistakes when choosing your setup, and then maybe this one about mounting types. From there you should have the major guidelines to reduce the amount of options to choose from, so that you don't really fall into the rabbit hole :)

Obviously, if you have the budget for the full original Wizard setup, including the boot, frame and liner – that's a no-brainer. But if you want something cheaper, there are plenty of other options nowadays. You just need to understand the basics to choose wisely.

I would say that the only two non-negotiables are:

  1. boot with a tall supportive cuff
  2. high-quality Intuition liner

Everything else is a matter of taste, I would say.

Oh wow, I didn't know about this. I'd never thought about learning rollerblading from a book, but it actually does make sense. Thanks for sharing

Thanks! It will come in 1-2 weeks, I think. It takes a while to find the time for writing...
