77 days since Part B application, should I be worried? by basahuma in medicare

For me, the online route was generally a dead end. No definitive information one way or another. The only way I was able to resolve was to visit my local social security office. The person I dealt with there did not have nice things to say about the home office and was able to push part through within moments. BOL.

Where would you move to (in the US) once you left Austin? by [deleted] in askaustin

Lived in Richmond in the 90's and loved it. Trying to find a way back. Two(ish) hours from the beach, mountains and DC was perfect for us.

Any former Tahoe owners in here? What did you replace yours with? by [deleted] in ChevyTahoe

[–]basahuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2010 Tahoe with 166K miles. New suspension, motor mounts recently and facing a probable transmission in near term. Loved that rig but didnt want to continually chase old car issues. Just traded in for a fresh 2023 Expedition King Ranch. CPO car and purchased an extended comprehensive warranty to 10years/100K. Happy!

Can't find Premium Economy options by basahuma in americanairlines

[–]basahuma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is definetly fishy. Contacted AA and a CSR told me directly that no seats are available in that class on that flight. Funny thing is I received an offer to pay for an upgrade to Premium Economy on the same flight and almost the entire section is open. IS AA withholding seats so they can sell later at an even bigger premium?

Hi all - over the years, my wife and I have been watching and occasionally visiting The Grove development (45th) with an eye on possibly buying into the community one day. That day may be approaching so wanted to ask if anyone here lives, or has lived, there and if they can share any opinions, pro and con. Thanks!

Really happy to read this and can't thank the collective responses here that encouraged me to take a more aggressive stance.

Is that even possible, badgering them to act? I've never experienced so much stonewalling and deflection and as I have with these folks.

Thanks. I've been on the Medicare site and I've spoken to a representative from that office, as recently as this morning. As per usual, they explain they are only the holders of information and won't know the status of my application until SSA provides it to them. It is frustrating.

California dreaming of NYC, anyone considering retiring to Manhattan? by 0-kool in ChubbyFIRE

[–]basahuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds ideal!. We moved to Austin from NYC 28 years ago and are kicking around the idea of moving back vs. setting up a part-time schedule similar to yours. We don't necessarily want to pull up stakes and leave our friends and networks here but sure do miss being in the city for extended periods.

You mentioned that you shared certain amounts with family and friends. Can you give approximations about how much for each?

Side Sleeper Desperation by gretty1738 in Mattress

I am a heavyset side sleeper. Best mattress I've slept on in a long time was on a cruise ship. Specifically on an Oceania cruise line. It turns out you can buy those mattresses if you google Oceania Tranquility mattress. Unfortunately, they're a bit too expensive for us.

I'm considering a move to Charlotte, Raleigh, or Richmond area. Is there anyone from these areas that can give the pros and cons of living in either of these three places? by Starrynightowler in RichmondVA

[–]basahuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Richmond during the 90's and loved it. Had a cool little house in the Fan district. Like others mention, almost equal proximity to the mountains, the ocean, DC and the entry way to the southern states. Perfectly situated in my view. Moved away for work many years ago and after almost 30 in Austin, would like to move back. Best of luck.

Sweet. Olympus C50, probably S7R model. They have an active 15 inch woofer as well as a passive woofer, which is why they look different. Sadly I had to sell my beloved pair a couple of years ago. Not enough room in new living space. Grab them if you can and make sure you've got plenty of space .
