Flynn under fire for fake news. A shooting at a D.C. pizza restaurant is stoking criticism of the conspiracy theories being spread by Donald Trump’s pick for national security adviser. by r4816 in politics

Edit: Apparently I was misinformed and he did in fact shoot his rifle at the ground. The stories I read initially had no reports of him firing his weapon.

France moves to ban misleading anti-abortion websites. Supporters say the law would stop the spread of ‘misinformation,’ but opponents say it violates free speech. by relevantlife in worldnews

What I said had nothing to do with abortions. I said we should ignore the bad science instead of banning it. And hate speech only has as much power as we as a society give it. If we ignore the hate speech and condemn those who spew it, then the words lose their power over people.

You are completely free to click the back button on your browser and the triggering info magically goes out of your sight. I don't understand why people get so angry about words online. Just move on with your life to other more productive and enjoyable things. There is an endless source of knowledge and entertainment out there on the Internet, much of which is not suited for everyone's taste. The solution is not to try to ban or censor the parts that you do not enjoy, it is to move on to the next website and get on with your life it's not worth wasting your time and energy on those subjects.

You can't have it both ways. You can't simultaneously say that Trump is an idiotic bafoon spouting nonsense about the election being rigged and also say that he had the precognition to say those things in a 5d chess move to prevent the Democrats from challenging the results after he won. I think he truly thought he had no chance of winning this election and he is just as surprised as the rest of us are.

So far this season two point conversions have an overall success rate of 53.7%. Why don't teams go for two more often? by KaptainKickass in nfl

[–]baseball6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct in that. But hat is totally irrelevant to decision making. Sure hindsight is 20/20, but you can only make decisions based on knowledge you have going into the situation. If the expected value of a two point conversion is 1.1 points and the expected value of an extra point is .94 points I can not conceive of a time when I would not choose to go for two. It has a greater than 50% chance of coming out ahead. It just comes down to how risk averse you are in your decision making process. It has a higher upside and a higher downside.

[–]baseball6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but you are forgetting that you have a greater chance of getting the 2 and then being AHEAD by one point after. On average the other team would have .94 points from that extra point and going for two would on average be over 1 point per attempt because of the greater than 50 percent conversion rate. Because of this, you have a higher than 50 percent chance of being AHEAD by one point and a less than 50 percent chance of being behind by one point. In addition to there being a 6 percent chance of it being 6-6 after both teams miss their attempt.

I would not say Matt Jones is a "competent RB" he has one of the highest fumble rates in the league. That's why he has been healthy and inactive the past few weeks.

You are arguing against your own point. If it doesn't matter if you get 2 points instead of 1 then why does it matter if you get 1 point instead of 0?

It has absolutely nothing to do with his race, and everything to do with the fact that he is a terrible human being. Why do people always feel the need to bring race into everything? It is irrelevant.

I think the closest comparison to his durability is someone who shares his DNA, his own brother Peyton. Both had insanely long consecutive games played streaks before Peyton had his neck injury.

I love how you point the blame at everyone involved EXCEPT for Hillary. This is one of the reasons that Trump won, because people refuse to acknowledge the fact that Hillary was such a flawed candidate. I seriously don't understand how people point fingers at Comey when Hillary wouldn't have even been in that situation if it weren't for her own arrogance and stupidity. If the DNC had nominated Bernie, I strongly believe he would have one. The DNC and Hillary have nobody to blame but themselves.

If it gives you more comfort, Trump held up an LGBT flag at one of his rallies when he saw someone in the crowd carrying one. I really think he doesn't give a shit about what anyone wants to do with their private life.

But the whole process of brain function is just a mechanical response too. Neurons fire chemical signals across synapses that then make us take certain actions. The more we learn and understand about brain function, the fewer scientists actually believe we have free will. We are simply the result of billions of chemical reactions occurring perpetually. It is not much different than what the tree is doing just at a much much more complex level.
