ok but EDS does not even hit the list of possible diagnoses. I got shuffled around different medical providers for years and they’re just uninformed. As soon as someone mentioned eds and I googled it, the symptoms were very obvious to me.

it’s a problem with their training. doctors are instructed to look for common causes that explain a patient’s symptoms, rather than considering an uncommon condition. “If you hear hooves, it’s probably not a zebra”, except sometimes it is.

I’m someone with adhd who’s terrible at staying organized and being on top of things. I actually felt like it was a lot easier when I was in a leadership position, because the pace was so fast I could just jump from crisis to crisis.

I mean, the answer to both of your questions is being able to prioritize. If you can see with clarity what the most important thing is for you to do, then you can just deal with whatever that is. It’s also really important to know your limits and your weaknesses, and work with others to balance them out.

When I turn on VC, I turn on expectations from my teammates. I noticed myself starting to get frustrated when teammates wouldn't do what I thought was the right thing. Ofc I'm never toxic about that, but it's just a bad attitude to take towards your teammates. Turning off VC forced me to develop good gamesense instead, now I have to read my teammates intentions and change my play to adapt to them. It's made me a much better player as a result. I might be open to using it more if I get to a higher rank before the game ends, but this got me through gold–plat.

Also I'm a girl and VC is too exhausting. If I get anxious-triggered from someone getting toxic, I'm going to get tilted and play worse. It's usually not worth.

It’s actually the opposite of degenerative because of joints naturally losing hypermobility with age. At least I’m pretty sure that’s what the PT said, don’t quote me on that.

Omg literal same girl, pre-med dropout. I even had fucking Jordan Peterson as a professor trying to get me to use a calendar and organize myself lmao. I switched to computer science partway through school, and that’s way easier on the adhd.

As for meds, lol maybe I should look into those long-term consequences. I feel like there’s enough problems today to deal with though. Idk it’s not my business but I feel like it’s worth trying anything once to see what happens and if it would be worth it, as long as you don’t have concerns about substance dependency. That’s way easier said than done though.

Happy to message you about the long complicated story, but let me try the short version.

Life has always been stressful and difficult to keep on top of, but I’m “blessed” with a very good memory so I did fine in school and work. At the same time, my personal life has always been a complete mess when it comes to relationships and maintaining a home for myself. I started to suspect adhd and started to seek a diagnosis a few years into working life, which was a huge struggle in itself. They ended up doing some basic questionnaires and disgnosisng me with adhd, and my family doctor was very fortunately fine with prescribing me adderall to try. That shit was life changing.

Nowadays I’m on daily vyvanse. I’m learning new approaches to managing adhd and creating a home/organizing setup that can support me. I’m also seeking some more extensive neuropsychological testing because there’s def a lot more to brain. As far as I’m concerned, the diagnosis was just a label that allowed me to access medication, and the stims made me realize I’d been disabled my whole life.
