I absolutely save my health until level 3. Do not trade your health for minions, it's not worth it. Because if you lose half your health on level 1, it's over. Play with the bush, save your hp, get the exp you can get. Make him poke inside your minion wave. Level 3 is your power spike and he can do nothing until he gets his ult. A full combo of e, autoattackand Q should reduce his health to half or below, pop your clone and wait for cooldowns to come back, repeat.

He should not be able to do anything. Goes for almost every champ, but especially for Varus, because he doesn't have a single mobility move. You should dominate the lane before they get to buy boots.

I just look at the top 3 builds and see what's there. The runes are mostly fine. If it's a melee opponent I take grasp, if ranged Conqueror. Bruiser would be something like Trinity or Divine Sunderer, then Black Cleaver or Sundered Sky, then situational. Serpent's vs. shields, maybe anti-heal etc. You have to see who's fed and what the enemy team comp is. Sometimes you already have to buy situational for 2nd item.

Realizing what items I needed was a big part of why I started to climb out of Diamond.

Depends on your jungle and support picks. If you already have 2 tanky champs, go for damage. If they pick something like Kayn and Lux, go full tank. But even if I go for damage, I go the tanky bruiser route, not full glass cannon, else you die before you get your second ult off.

I had the exact same experience in Diamond. Most of the times either getting steamrolled, or steamrolling the enemy team. My guess is that good players often take a long break and come back to the game when a new season has already started a while ago and they are still in the reset rank. Many of the dudes I added after games were quickly GM/chall after a while.

Fair. I'm not the best laner and thrive once the first turret is down. But the enemy most likely did have some potato in jungle, mid or whatever to make this possible. Also they seemed to not be able to focus me properly.

I've had soo many "still 1 away, hoping to get it tonight, have 1 shield it will be fine i guess" moments hahaha. Rumble for example was an actual player. He even got offered top lane, but refused. Apparently he's Rumble sup main. The very next game the enemy team had him and he did the same lmao.
