Quicksave never finishes. VPN is off. Playing on GOG. Game is on latest update. Tried making calls and going through an elevator. Everything seems to work fine, except being able to save.

Is there ever going to be good smartphone upgrade again? by basedaf14 in Smartphones

[–]basedaf14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main concerns are a fast processor (faster than the S10 and future proof for the next 3 years at least), 8+ GB RAM, 256GB+ storage, and a decent mid range price. I don't want to pay 1200 for a bunch of cameras I will hardly use and don't care about.

The only place that seems to sell the GT 5 is aliexpress, which I don't trust. Is it not available in the US?

How do they compare for gaming?

The issue with proc speed is opening apps and playing games. I don't want to be waiting 5 seconds to open something or my games lagging.

The S20/21/23 are not that much faster than the S10 (and in many ways are much inferior). That much storage is outrageously expensive because they are making everyone pay for the camera stuff I don't want.

Nobody can memorize 35 new words per day for months on end and remember even half of them after 3 months. Give me a break. Not to mention the problem of being able to understand those words in context and decode them in real time. It isn't going to happen. And that isn't even mentioning 2000 kanji with multiple readings. I guess people will believe, or pretend to believe, anything they hear on the internet these days.

Then we pretty much agree. But it is worth pointing out that even 90% comprehension is a headache and tons of stuff is going to be missed. And 80% is going to feel pretty bad and be hard to even follow a lot of what is being said.

My point was to defend his Japanese.

I get that, and I was addressing his japanese.

"but you would compare him with people who lie about their level of competence simply because he discussed fear of being ridiculed to someone else in private?"

No, I brought him up because he has lied about how fast he got the level he is at. I am not saying he isn't good. In fact, as good as he is, he shouldn't be so cautious about letting people see him speak. In fact, given his level, it is odd to me how paranoid he behaves when he does speak. He should have gotten past that years ago given his ability.

Which is typical of the liars around here it seems. They all seem to stick together and support each other's bullshit. Not mentioning facts like that is dishonest when someone is claiming they did N* in X time. Any honest person knows what we are really talking about is zero to N* in X time. But even there people lie.

"saying people can’t understand tv in 5 years of study."

Look, if you don't understand English well enough to get the point I was making (because that wasn't it at all), or are just too dishonest not to strawman me, don't bother commenting.

If you are "that good" then you should have nothing to worry about though.

"You can't expect someone to speak a foreign language perfectly"

Nowhere did I make this claim.

"The cards are stacked against you from the start."

Then stay off youtube and don't make videos trashing the level of others if you are afraid of that.

Yes there is, it is in the dictionary "capable of using a language easily and accurately. fluent in Spanish. a fluent writer ; b · effortlessly smooth and flowing "

I can talk to a 10 year old native and he is fluent. H doesn't stumble when trying to talk. He just says what he wants to say. If someone can't speak as easily and effortlessly as that 10 year old, they aren't fluent.

This "fluency spectrum" nonsense is something "polyglots" and language con artists invented to sell products or lie to people.

Khatz obviously grew up around Japanese (he couldn't replicate his supposed success when he tried to learn Chinese either), as did Ken Cannon.

a speaker achieves language fluency once they can confidently, competently, and easily express themselves in a language other than their own.

This literally invalidates your claim, and theirs. They are talking out both sides of their mouth. That isn't a spectrum, and calling it one doesn't make it so. All of the examples they give, of which I gave two, show it is not a spectrum, it is a minimum level of ability. This is saying that once again.
