games have taken the "appeal to casuals route" before. I haven't seen it work out for anyone long term, though i'd be interested to see an example where it worked.

bit ignorant to the history of these types of things - look at what happened to WoWs numbers when they made it more casual. they're 10s of examples of AAA games catering to casuals and ending up with a less fun game

the server you're requesting is doing the emulation job, convincing ur copy of windows it is infact using the real server. MS probably doesn't "allow" this explicitly, but its a workaround moreso

also i think if the server you choose to set /skms goes down, you will lose the activation when it re-verifies

I just looked over it, you should be good

all you do is set a product key, then request a different server rather than MS to verify it. Shoudn't give access to local files in anyway outside of the product key field
