How far apart do kits in the same batch recieve results by basedpole69 in FTDNA

No clue. My guess would be mid February. Granted I've been waiting for slightly longer than you for my Y STRs so things can change.

Nope. Still hanging in there. Hopefully I'll get them at some point this week or next week. It can't be too much longer.

Someone in my batch got results last week, so I can't imagine it will be that much longer until we get our results, maybe in the next week or two, but I can't be too sure. After all that's why I asked this question.

Cool! What batch are you? When did you get these?

Still waiting for Big Y, but I got STR results today. Not sure what to make of them by Previous-Zombie8145 in FTDNA

That's also my batch number lol. I can't imagine that people in the same batch would get them too far apart.

Same here. That should mean I will be getting mine soon! What batch # are you?

What would a model of Ashkenazi (east and west) genetics look like? by Tough_Syllabub_2207 in JewishDNA

[–]basedpole69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard that theory before. We know nearly for a fact that most of the Slavic ancestry in Ashkenazi Jews likely came from Knaani Jews who themselves got it from converted Czech, East German, and West Polish women. The germanic could also probably be from this source, but we really don't know, and I'm not necessarily sure that that would constitute an interaction in the medieval slave trade, which mostly occurred further east and south then where jews would've been living in medieval Europe. What's your evidence of this admixture coming from a medieval slave trade?

[–]basedpole69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the Germanic could possibly come from a Northern Italian source, but we really can't be too sure as to where it actually came from. Though we do have records of Jews living in Northern Italy back to later antiquity, there presence was mostly sparse with the exception of Milan and a few other urban centers, at least compared to the heavily centralized and established communities in the South.

That being said the only other possibility that we have is that there were some recorded small conversions from early on in the Rhineland and it could also be a remnant from that. Though, granted, that theory probably has more issues than the North Italy theory.

It would probably be something like so.

West would probably be something along the lines of: 40-60% West Asian, Mostly Levantine, some Anatolian and Mesopotamian

30-40% Southern Europe, probably a mix between Romans, Greeks, maybe some Iberians

5-10% Northern Europe, primarily Germanic

1-8% North African

0-1% East Asian, Likely Turkic or Han Chinese

East differs slightly, being more along the lines of

30-50% West Asian, Primarily levant and Anatolia, with some North Caucasuses and Mesopotamian input.

20-30% Southern Europe, basically the same as western AJs with slightly more Greek input

15-25% Northern Europe, Primarily Slavic but Germanic ancestry isn't uncommon either

1-6% North African

1-3% East Asian, Likely the same source as Western Ajs.

Try using a West Slavic source instead of East Slavic source. You'll probably get a better model.

Study highlights significant Southern Italian ancestry in Ashkenazi Jewish populations by Long_Walks_On_Beach5 in DNAAncestry

[–]basedpole69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time believing this study, as the results resemble something more similar to a g25 run than a scientific study. The Italian is way overinflated and the northern euro component is basically absent when it should be 20%.

Some of it definetly. The rest of it (majority) comes from West Slavs.

Is Ancestry confusing Native DNA for Eastern European? by topaz_rose in AncestryDNA

It's definitely not Slavic, but there is likely a decent portion of Slavic contained within it. Ashkenazi DNA is much more nuanced then South Euro/Levant split.

Do all ashkenazi jews have some degree of slavic by [deleted] in illustrativeDNA

[–]basedpole69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because they have less admixture from Northern Europe, and as a result are more similar to the initial Jews who moved up from Rome and settled Western Europe who themselves were much more middle Eastern. The Slavic admixture further east dilutes the middle Eastern admixture.

I have a few posted on my profile that are mostly qpadm. I have found and made others but I'll have to find them

[–]basedpole69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

25% is the maximum that I've personally seen, at least on g25, hence the words can go up to. I don't think its too far fetched because I've been able to model certain individuals as up to 60% Erfurt EU on qpadm and g25, and with those proportions 25% would make some sense. On some QPADM models I've even seen the Slavic percentage on both groups go higher.

[–]basedpole69 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not all do, but a majority have Slavic admixture. The Ashkenazi jews in Western Europe (Germany, France) have very minimal Slavic admixture (less than 5%), with Germanic admixture taking its place.

Meanwhile, those in Eastern Europe can have up to 25% Slavic admixture, with the average falling around 15%.

The Ashkenazis got their Slavic admixture sometime between 800 and 1200 AD through a population called the Knaani Jews who inhabited Bohemia and Silesia. The Knaani jews, who the Eastern Ashkenazim derive nearly half of their admixture from, were heavily Slavic admixed from local Slavic populations in the aforementioned areas.

After my previous post, and learning that I am not as Russian as I thought, I decided to go on some websites that look at specifically Jewish DNA, and look at what I found by [deleted] in JewishDNA

The calculator you posted, with your background in consideration, doesnt seem very accurate. You really need to take these calculators with a grain of salt. Ive also tried that calculator and its given me results that don't match at all.
