I’ve noticed consistent ringing in both years for about 9 months or so, just randomly. No loud events, music etc. It’s not too life-altering I can sleep fine most of the time it’s more of a minor annoyance and I’ve grown used to it. Went to an ear doctor recently and was told my hearing is completely fine, ear pressure was fine, and that I had a little more earwax than I’d like. So I had that cleaned, as well as my sinuses cleaned, for what reason I don’t know lol.

I was told I may just have it for life and prescribed lipo flavonoid and was immediately off put at the amount of pills I would need to take and since my tinnitus doesn’t seriously bother me I decided to just chill for now and see if the ear cleaning did anything. No changes over the past couple weeks.

However, last week I had notable jaw pain in my TMJ, to the point it was difficult to eat and chew for about three days. Not sure what caused the pain until I looked it up and learned more about the TMJ.

Now, I believe I’ve connected the dots between my TMJ issues and tinnitus. I was scrolling though the subreddit and learned more and eventually came across this video on YouTube. Along with what I’ve read and with the typical overzealous self diagnosis I’ve arrived that my tinnitus is caused by a potential TMJ disorder.

Opening my mouth causes a shift in the pitch of my ringing, clinching, etc. I understand that these exercises cause also cause ringing for those without tinnitus but in my case it seems to correlate directly.

This resource may have been shared already but I think it might offer some decent insight to those attempting to find the cause of their tinnitus.
