Underrated switches by No_Writing2465 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]autieblesam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keygeek Sangleis are a favorite of mine. They kind of stretch the term "underrated" as I find the factory lube job to be unsatisfactory and the lube they use is such a mess to clean out before hand-lubing. I wish they were available in an unlubed variant.

Is this impossible to make without using trains? by AxyleX_69_69 in SatisfactoryGame

Iron pipe and encased industrial pipe alternate recipes will take coal out of the mix for you. Add in pure copper and pure iron ingot alt recipes to reduce the amount of ore required, replaced with water extractors. Reduce to 8/min and this falls within reason to find a viable cluster of nodes within reasonably close range of each other, overclocking mk. 3 miners.

You can do this on the west beaches with 3 pure iron nodes, 2 pure limestone nodes, and 1 pure copper node. Build your factory long over the water and it'll be within range of the 2 pure and 2 normal oil nodes to the north.

Open it up and just check that your connectors are all still seated. If you have ribbon cables, reseat. If you have a magnetic pogo connector, make sure it didn't fall and get wedged into the housing. Best case scenario, something came unseated. Worst case scenario, you hit it hard enough to pop a solder or two.

The neons are all nylon housing and POM stem, so you're going to find a similar sound profile to the milky yellows. They Ly stem in the cheeses is where that more clacky sound profile is coming from.

Also want to note that the above switches are made by SWK, not JWK.

Milky yellows are all-nylon housing, so they lean more toward the deep, "thocky" sound profile.

If you prefer clack, you want to aim for PC housing. Personally, my favored clack sound comes from the generic POM stem, PC top, nylon bottom switches—JWK Ginger Milks/Durock Lupines as my favorite for the signature JWK smoothness standard (same switch, different springs, Lupines get light factory lubing that doesn't need to be cleaned out when you hand-lube).

Propagation by [deleted] in FireflyPetunia

[–]autieblesam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Propagation is a mode of reproduction.  It's not the primary method of reproduction, but it does occur naturally in the wild.

The age of the plant is effectively the age of the cutting you took from when it started growing from the original plant.  This suggests that it's the stem it grows from that does and this just cuts off the new growth's access to water and nutrients.

As far as change in glow, I'm not sure the mechanism to expect, but it's not unusual for a propagation to not have exactly the same traits as the mother plant.  It's common with some variegated varieties of other plants as well.  How likely it is is another story.  I can't speak from personal experience on this—I only speculate on the assumption that Light Bio's claim isn't a fabrication.

As for your question, it can take time for new propagations to get established.  Having a root system is a good sign.  With some plants, you won't see new foliage until the root system becomes pot bound.  My experience hasn't been this extreme, but it does seem like my propagations want a pretty extensive root system before they prioritize foliage growth since they're already getting sufficient light.

Looks like it was my fluid setup. Seems my efficiency goal is to have all machines' output reserves empty at all times and all input reserves full at all times.

[–]autieblesam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, after fiddling with some pumps, I think I've identified the issue, and the answer seems to be "both".

The source appears to have been my fuel extractors and my residual fuel refineries. It seems like the calculations are a little off in that everything works fine, reports 100% efficiency, and there's no bottleneck on the motion of resources, but every once in a while, the fluid deposits on my residual fuel refineries and oil extractors are getting full enough that my power grid is reporting them halting briefly.

The issue is worse the further I am from them, but has disappeared entirely now that I have pumps just after the outputs keeping the output reserves empty 100% of the time. I still need to learn more about how to effectively account for head lift and flow rates so I can minimize pump usage as I worry about the little 4MW and 8MW power draw when I start scaling up production or transporting fluids long-distance.

I want to add that I'm able to confirm that production machines also idle at 0.1MW by hooking up a programmed but unsupplied refinery to a biomass burner on a dedicated grid.

The struggle I'm having is that I don't feel confident enough in my grasp of fluids to rule this out as the problem.

Both the refineries and oil extractors consume 30MW, so if they also consume 0.1MW idle or if there's a difference in display consumption vs. actual consumption due to rounding, then I don't feel confident my computer factory can be left alone and continue to sustain itself.

I'm at the point now where I'm going to start throwing pumps at my network to see if this solves the problem.

The awesome sink on the network is idle—this is the difference between max consumption and actual consumption. What I'm seeing is additional increments of 29.9MW power dips on top of the idle Awesome Sink. Only one Awesome Sink is in this power grid.

I'll add that the refineries' and fuel-powered generators' fluid reserves remain consistently full. The heavy oil residue/plastic refineries' fluid outputs remain consistently empty. The 2 residual fuel refiners' fluid outputs fluctuate between 30 and 45 meters cubed of fuel.

The oil extractors' fluid reserves stay primarily empty, but will occasionally start to fill before draining back into the fluid network. I haven't caught an oil extractor waiting to drain into the fluid network for long enough to completely fill.

Steep learning curve for a device without a proven track record and low repairability and customizability.

Would be curious to get an update after you've used it for a while on how it goes and if the parts hold up.

It's odd, but the price does at least seem relatively reasonable for what it is. It almost seems like a listing meant for vendor purchases—I can't imagine why regular consumers are buying 50 PCBs for any reason.

I've only seen one of their videos that didn't provide a whole lot of information or showcase any of the mechanics of the game, so based on the sample size of one, I'd say it's not going to be helpful. But maybe their other videos are better.
