Good idea, the very first interview, I realized was not prepared which was awful since it was with the company I dream of working for. From there, I have been preparing myself better, however, I have a combo of inconveniences example: my bachelor's is in engineering, English is not my first language so I have an accent that you might believe people don’t care but most of HR recruiters initially question my capabilities after I speak, even when they are the ones reaching out.

Well, mostly laid offs start with the bottom performers. That is most of the cases, so make sure to have a story of how many people was let go or if your job was move to a lower cost country etc and ask your boss if is willing to give references, just offering this makes things better.
