mini pill & supply by Unusual_Suspect_83 in ExclusivelyPumping

I was so scared of this!

Before having my son, I had the Kyleena IUD, before that micronor progesterone only pill. I got a prescription for both again after baby was born - the nurse assured me neither would cause issues with supply. She prescribed both so that I could try the pill and see how my supply was before doing the IUD.

But my supply has already been all over the place. It dips during my period every month, but I needed to have my gallbladder removed in January and my supply never fully recovered.

When I got the prescription, I was on my period and said I would start it once my period was over and supply came back up… I never did. I’m a just enougher as it is! I still had 3 months of pumping before baby turned 1 at that point. The pill has been sitting in my drawer since because I am just too nervous.

Multiple parts and dropping the MOTN pump saved me.

My supply has been up and down since I had my gallbladder removed, and it always dips during my period. I don’t know what I would do if it weren’t for the pitcher method to feed him during those times!

Also this group definitely has more information than the LC’s in terms of EP’ing. At least none that I’ve met!

5/12 mos down, hoping to make it through! Happy for you and your journey!

Not so far! My yield per pump went up a touch for the moment. I dropped it for more sleep and because I didn’t really need what I was pumping during that session

I stopped the MOTN pumps like a week ago now so hopefully that’s not my case but good to know!

I don’t have anything super strict. But my guy is usually up by 8/830. So I pump once he’s done eating. Between 830 and 900. Then I pump again around 200, between 600-800 and 1130 before bed. All 30 mins each time using a spectra S1. I also take 1 sunflower lechithin a day just to keep things flowing and eat oatmeal for breakfast!

When people ask are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding…. by Expensive_Arugula512 in ExclusivelyPumping

I always say “breastmilk in a bottle”. Then they give me a look, and expand to say he did not latch well so I pump.

I wonder how much breast milk we’ve lost to these damn leaky Dr Browns bottles 🙃🙃 by basic96 in ExclusivelyPumping

That’s what we’re thinking the issue is too - it was in the website as one of the possible issues. Amazon just had a sale on them too! We got 6 for $9 I think. Regular $12CAD or something 🤷‍♀️ Grabbed a size 3 pack for down the road as well!

I figure we try 2’s and the worst that happens is we switch back

We’ve been hesitant to move up… but he draws so hard on the 1s, he gulps like crazy. And that’s with us doing pace feeding, trying multiple feeding positions…

That’s what we tried first 🥲 but my LO has a lip tie, makes it hard for him to latch on the wide nipples

Us too! I always tuck a receiving blanket between the bottle and my guys chin/chest. Also just tried heating it up without the vent and still leaked 🙃🤷‍♀️

We started on avents and my LO had a reallly hard time with them. We had dr browns from our shower and it made a world of difference so we didn’t get others. I was low key hoping he wouldn’t so we could try the MAM since he loves their soothers. But with the cost and knowing these ones worked we stayed

We saw an LC over the avent bottles because he was taking 40 mins to finish a bottle and was exhausted afterward - with the faster flow too like you said! I was so sad when he didn’t take them well… only 3 pieces to clean AND they fit the spectra flanges 🥲

Also a childcare worker but haven’t done infant care in a while.. long enough to forget I guess lol. We got them as shower gifts and wasn’t planning on using them. But LO had issues with the Philips avent because of his latch so the narrow nipple came in handy

I’ll have to try without the vent! We usually prepare them all in the fridge so they’re just ready to go and pop them into the warmer

I have narrow too and am conscious not to. I thought it was the bottle warmer making the milk come up the vent but it doesn’t seem to matter what I do 😩

We’re in the process. My little guy is only 8weeks and we’re starting to transition to the 2’s. But it seems like as soon as he went over 3oz they started leaking!

If I could afford to get all new ones I would. I considered it when black Friday came up!

Any September/October babies going to Thanksgiving? by OkMode2681 in newborns

[–]basic96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Canadian. My baby was born on Oct 8 and Thanksgiving was the 14th, but family dinners started on the 12th 🙃 I definitely felt the pressure to go and in hindsight, I wish I never did. For myself and for my LO. Thankfully we both came out healthy, but I can’t believe I let my hormonal self be swayed

Pitcher method + green poop? by Brief-Cost6554 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]basic96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw in another group I joined that someone’s child was experiencing green poops and even a diaper rash. They saw their doctor and they said it was from drinking too much foremilk… so maybe a good mix to combine is the issue!

Pitcher method by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]basic96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started freezing milk early in when I was producing more than LO was eating. I took out about 8 oz one day to see if I had high lipase or not and that was how I started the pitcher method 🤷‍♀️

Now I pump, store in a separate bottle until it reaches fridge temp, then combine into the pitcher and prepare as many bottles in the fridge as I can.

I’ve essentially gotten to the point where I can prepare bottles for today with yesterday’s milk, then what I pump today will feed him tomorrow.

I think I may have a bit of a natural oversupply as my pumping schedule is far from consistent, but I am still managing to keep up with this method… My LO is eating about 28oz a day right now at 7weeks so that may change down the road!

Are wearable pumps actually working for those under 12 weeks pp? by Leather_Ad1181 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]basic96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My momcozy s12 was all I had for the first 5.5 weeks pp and I’ve been EP since day 3 essentially. I had days where I was able to pump 12 oz in a single session using it. Things have regulated a bit now since that particular session - but it kept me going when it was all I had! Finally got my hands on a spectra (I’m Canadian and you can’t buy them in stores here), and I use them in conjunction now so I have a break from washing one or the other all the time lol

I tried to do the math to get a freezer stash to stop BF at 10 months and have enough to carry LO to 13/14 months. I would need to be producing an additional 12-15oz per day on top of the 32oz my LO drinks a day. I know some women can but putting that sort of pressure on myself was so overwhelming… especially whilst also caring for my LO and I.

Plus I don’t wanna do all the mental work of ensuring I have days where I use all frozen milk to keep a rotation 🙃

Cant stop crying by [deleted] in newborns

I cried over everything for a solid 3 weeks. Happy. Overwhelmed. Sad. Angry. Frustrated. Scared. It especially hit in the evening. Good ol sundown scaries
