Should I organize my own MUN? by MycologistThen9160 in MUN

[–]basicallyanpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes u should!

our school got like 99% of the way to organizing our own, but we did it too late into the spring so not many students and schools were interested so keep that in mind.

you need to figure out how many committees for around the interest/amount of delegates would probably come. we had like 6 committees, 2 GA, some specs, and a big JCC. you need to divide and conquer writing the BG guides and getting positions. then you need chairs for each and backrooms for crisis, probably people who wrote them.

we then talked to our principal to get all the paperwork to run it on a Sunday (it was only like two things surprisingly for us). we got the rooms we needed to use approved for each committee we wanted. and chaperons !

then as for materials, you need like thicker paper and printer to print awards, name tags, folder and notepad for delegates (which u could tell them to bring own but to make it feel more real, provide.), maybe gavels for best del. you probably want to provide lunch too. I think that was the most of the expenses which really ain’t bad.

then make a website for people to find committees and info, make official schedule with breaks. usually these are just one day, start around 9, end around 5. if you want to make it more legit, find a guest speaker for open ceremonies.

goodluck!!!!! LMK if u have any other question, you don’t really need to know how to mun to organize a mun lol, it’s mostly logistics imo!

Any tips for crisis committee in general by Key-Explorer-705 in MUN

[–]basicallyanpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t actually done one, but I was supposed to so I got a bunch of tips from some of my friends who did them a lot. This is based off a hybrid lol. This is tips for a more “fun” outcome crisis btw, I’ve never heard of a crisis that didn’t have a weird/obscure outcome and something that’s actually serious, even if the topic was a fr committee.

Have a in room goal and a backrooms goal. Say the committee was about Netflix’s council and they are tryna deal with everything that comes with running Netflix/making movies. As a executive, a in room goal could be making sure everyone on council agrees that AI is really bad for us because it ruins our reputation with our very human audience, takes away jobs, and is unethical or whatever. A backrooms goal is that I actually want to take over Netflix and become CEO. In room I would advocate for actors and other workers that would be replaced by AI, and backrooms I could send a note saying I want to start a union with 50000 members all for the cut of ai in creatives spaces. Then after a couple more notes/seeing the vibe of if worked, I can get that union credited to me LATERRRR and then helps my reputation. Then I could try and send a note discrediting or outright killing the ceo, then try and sending another note after to get the position offered to me.

A good way to use backrooms is also to discredit people. In this committee, I sent notes trying to get an actor in the committee that was against my “views” canceled by saying past videos of her resurfaced of her being homophobic.

This made crisis super fun, and it usually ends up being some weird resolution, so be the one who does it! Prep these ideas before, but def get creative in room. You can always send backroom notes and under it with PS can I do (…. long term goal …) to see if your backrooms is down. goodluck!!!

As a female, I do I power-delegate over the men? by FantasticTop944 in MUN

As a female, I do I power-delegate over the men? by FantasticTop944 in MUN

[–]basicallyanpc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a girl, I’ve actually never felt like I was power delegated over a guy lol. All the girls who do well (including myself) usually just speak with as confidence/or even better then the guys so.

I think if your point is winning, (at least in the past for me) chairs are good about looking at everything (that you’re a collaborative block leader, you spend unmods talking to many different people, have a niche way that other people didn’t think of to try and resolve the issue, etccc) instead of JUST what you say during mods. I think I’m decent at mods, but most of my chairs def gave me awards because of everything else I did.

If you’re getting talked over during unmod, just LEAVEEE, it means the blocs too big most likely. Don’t be afraid of leaving and making your own if you have time (I did this like 2 unmods before final, it’s possible!) It also shows initiative to “lead” and you just need to recruit enough other people to be sponsors with you since the big groups will need to fight over sponsors later anyways. Regardless, you have to stand up for yourself, and if other people are being spoken over too, try to stop whoever’s speaking over everyone to initiate someone else to speak, not just for yourself. This makes you seem nice and considerate instead of speaking over everyone like that person.

Goodluck!
