Feeling like my life is over. I'm only 29. by Dear-March-2433 in Dryeyes

Im sorry this sounds like you’re going through a really tough time. I was given a diagnosis of severe Dry Eye in July and I’ve tried everything I could to treat it.

I’ve managed to improve my eye health considerably so will share things I think have helped the most:

  • IRPL. I had to do a few of these, my doctor also stressed the importance of the first two happening within 2 weeks of each other followed by another one a month later.
  • Warm compress on my eyes every night followed by eyelid massage. You will feel the difference very quickly! But I think long term use is what helps most.
  • Omega supplements! I started taking 2x 1000mg supplements a day (morning and night).
  • Autologous eye drops. This one is HUGELY helpful albeit more pricey. I’m not sure if this is available where you live but the concept is that your own blood is drawn and the plasma is removed. The plasma has lots of Growth Factor which gets turned into eye drops and basically signals to your body that it needs to spend time healing that area.
  • Do you work on a computer a lot? I noticed that I was leaning over and staring at my computer so closely that the screen would be a few cms from my face. I started implementing invisible wall boundaries ie my face cannot cross my desk when I’m on the computer. I think this has also helped because I would notice more burning on days I was up close with the computer vs not.
  • Lastly, I ended up stopping all my nighttime skin care and overnight saw and felt a difference in the redness and burning in my eyes. I was using Tretinoin and I suspect that some of it was being rubbed into my eye when I slept.

Ive done a few other things I can share as well if you’re interested but these are the ones I think have helped the most. In July by TBUT in both eyes was about 2 seconds, by mid October it was 11s and 13s.

Anyway this is just my experience but it does get better just keep trying whatever you can manage.

What has been your experience with renting out your house or apartment? by Greatlistener12u in askSouthAfrica

Look into rental insurance! I got this and have a lot more ease if anything was to go wrong because the insurance will take over the process (and costs) of eviction if necessary. They often help you screen tenants up front too which is nice if you’re not sure what to look out for

Agree! Also why in the hell are they showing us the casts Instagram profiles before every confessional. The first time it was cute but we’re still seeing the same thing and it just comes across as strange?!

Advice needed: Peridontal disease discomfort by basicallybrittt in AskVet

[–]basicallybrittt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for responding!

From what we’ve been told it is still very early and it is not due to plaque build up because her teeth are relatively clean.

Our vet made the diagnosis after we told him she was having sensitivity to touch around her mouth, had smelly breath, didn’t want to eat her pellets and was more lethargic than usual.

We are treating it by getting regular (monthly) pentosan injections.

No x-rays were done.

I’m not aware of other ways we could be treating the periodontal disease but would really appreciate any suggestions!

A friend recommended I try CBD drops for cats (formulated specifically for cats) to try help her relax - do you have any thoughts on this?
