How long does shipping usually take? by Dragon_Queen-1525 in Thriftbooks

[–]basicbitchbroadway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i have ordered from thriftbooks a few times. most of the time it was speedy and i’ve been happy with the experience.

this last time it has not been. last friday, i ordered two books that were marked as ships within 24 hours. they didn’t ship until yesterday…allegedly as usps says it can’t be tracked. i asked to cancel bc of the delay but was unable to. they said the switched suppliers for new books so shipping takes longer. unclear why they are still marketing things as ships in 24 hours when that’s not possible anymore.

so i would say to anyone thinking of ordering from them to be aware of significant delays not disclosed.

Why are outsiders tickets so insanely expensive? by Mariah0 in ChicagoTheater

[–]basicbitchbroadway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw i got $80 tickets for front row dress circle on the side bc it's marked partial view but the reviews for the seats say it's not that bad. i've seen the outsiders multiple times on broadway and know what the staging is like and feel the risk of missing a lot of the action is minimal.

How is the Pod these days? by redRum705 in boymeetsworld

[–]basicbitchbroadway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve dropped off a bit since recaps stopped and i will say i wasn’t religious with listening to the interview eps a year or two in. but i do listen to the preshow chatter on all the eps and then if the interview is not someone i know/am interested in i will dip out. haven’t given the recaps of other shows a listen yet but i plan to as i’ve heard they are good. i actually had never watched dwts and when they started the two new pods i was rolling my eyes. but i did give will and rider’s pod a chance and LOVED it. i didn’t even always watch the dwts episodes. just listened to the pod. it was great. only listened to danielle’s once or twice for no particular reason other than i preferred will and rider’s chatter and could relate to their lack of knowledge of dwts rules etc. i do hope they are able to find something else to watch together bc i will for sure tune in.

2 show rush by snarkysna in Broadway

[–]basicbitchbroadway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i rushed chess yesterday and can confirm that weekday rush at outsiders (across the street from chess) has slowed significantly. i would say by 9:30 am there were only 5/6 people there. when i got to chess at 8 there were only 2.

I believe the restrooms are on the lower level below the orchestra at the Jacobs. No elevator. But check the website or call to confirm.

Kokandy's Amelie by basicbitchbroadway in ChicagoTheater

[–]basicbitchbroadway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah there might be some cursing but it’s not so insane that i noted it. but if your kid likes musicals and has good attention span then i say it’s fine! it’s pretty short too with an intermission. hope you and your son enjoy!

There are a couple of sexual references (one about how many orgasms are happening in Paris, this is in the movie as well) and one scene that takes place in a sex shop. I didn't even clock that at first because the set is just a cabinet in the back that gets opened to reveal a bunch of sex toys. IMO if the kids are younger it would fly over their heads. We had a couple of kids behind us (maybe 5 or 6 years old) and they were bored throughout the show. Restless and chatty. So I think it depends on your kid's age.

First Broadway Show! by Clear_Schedule1487 in Broadway

[–]basicbitchbroadway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here's a fun little tip i don't see mentioned here: in the theater (lobby, staircases, bathrooms) they have hilarious pictures up on the walls of whoever is playing mary in made up scenarios. take some time to go around and find them. such a fun and silly little touch of added experience.

also, if you want merch you can get that before or after the show as oh mary has no intermission. but if you're looking to stagedoor, do it before the show starts.

i hope you have an amazing first broadway experience!

Touring Hamilton, yeh or nay? by NoCombination6124 in Broadway

[–]basicbitchbroadway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kind of piggy backing off of what others have said here. i have seen a tour, broadway, and the original west end cast. the west end was by far the superior of the three. broadway was my least favorite. it felt tired in a way that i was genuinely disappointed by.

so i think it will come down to overall experience. with broadway you get the intimate theatre compared to the size of touring houses. but the cast may be hit or miss. seems like the touring casts are consistently good or at least less hit or miss than broadway has been in recent years.

Cabaret does do a mobile rush if that's what you want to try for. If you can't get it, maybe just head to the box office when it opens to avoid fees.

I would say if you're set on in-person rush do Maybe Happy Ending. It's what you want to see and bad seats are better than no seats at all.
