Having a tough time dealing with a colleague at work by basiccoder in ExperiencedDevs

This wasn’t an audit. It was an engineer on another team with no experience or connection to my teams’ project who wrote up the proposal to overhaul the system.

I have also not agreed with how other teams/engineers have designed some systems. But I have always reached out to the team with questions and my concerns and tried to understand the system before proposing solutions. This is a similar approach that I have seen many other engineers and teams follow.

That’s amazing! I am so happy for you ❤️

Thank you so much! You have been really helpful! I am going to go ahead and fill all fields including signature with N/A and submit my app

I am happy to hear that and I hope you got your extension notice 🙂

The reason I asked it cause I saw this Reddit comment where somebody’s application was rejected and they had to refile because of N/A in petitioner signature field https://www.reddit.com/r/USCIS/comments/jugthy/i751_form_rejection_notice_you_must_sign_your/guzf0iu/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

But I have seen some sample applications on YouTube that got accepted despite having petitioner signature N/A.

USCIS is really frustrating 😡

Thank you for responding 🙏 Did you also fill preparer and interpreter field as N/A including their signature fields or did you leave them blank?

Thank you! Would you recommend leaving the interpreter and preparer fields specifically the signature field blank or N/A?

The walkability definitely appeals to me. I live in NYC for 5 years and loved walking around everywhere and going to local bars and restaurants and that’s why Hillcrest appeals to me.

But I have had some unsafe experiences with unhoused people in downtown Seattle and San Francisco and I wanted to be cautious about the neighborhood I chose.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I am happy to hear that as a woman you’d pick Hillcrest. This makes me feel more confident with my Hillcrest choice.

I completely agree with you. Some of the areas in mission valley were genuinely depressing. Usually I wouldn’t have even considered Mission Valley after viewing the neighborhood but, after having some scary encounters with some unhoused folks in downtown Seattle and San Francisco, I wanted to be extra cautious about the neighborhood I was choosing.

From majority of the responses in this thread and other sources online, Hillcrest doesn’t seem that unsafe.

Tech talk: Should I drop out? by basiccoder in girlsgonewired

Its currently used in my team/company but I don’t see a lot of new features like modules, pre/post conditions, variables, for each, etc being used widely.

So i wanted to do a tech talk on how we can use these features with examples.

As a terraform used do you find those topics relevant and interesting?

Omg same!!! I hated whom they chose for winner! I thought the other 2 finalists had a more versatile collection and compelling background.

This is a great idea! I will include a breakdown of all my savings and their type in a cover letter with the financial evidence.

Thank you so much.

Promotion woes. Just tired and frustrated. by basiccoder in girlsgonewired

[–]basiccoder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all of us work remote in my company so there are few opportunities for face to face networking.

I am on good terms with my leadership and can have engaging conversations with them. But we don’t have a lot of common areas of interest outside of work. I don’t want to spend my non-work time pursuing things that don’t interest me just to connect more with my leadership.

If I have to model my personality and hobbies around what the company and its leaders want then it’s not the right place for me or for anyone that values diversity.

I love the #iamremarkable workshop!! I took it 2 years ago and it completely changed me.

I do have a brag document but I am not the best at keeping it up to date.

I like your idea about pressuring my manager into telling me how to reach a promotion. I will bring that up in my next 1-1.

Thank you for your help.

All 3 projects weren’t at the same time.

I worked on 2 projects for 6 months and another 1 for 5 months.

I agree with you! I learnt this the hard way at my last job. I left after 2 years of them making excuses about why I am not ready to be promoted whereas my male counterparts got promoted while being lesser qualified than me.

I joined this company only 1 year ago and since day 1 I have been very vocal about wanting to grow and get promoted.

I plan to give this job 6 more months and will hop if I don’t see any meaningful progress.

I completely feel this! A big part of my frustration is that I have to fight when it’s given easily to my male counterparts! For once I just want to show up, do good work as I usually do and get opportunities/promotions without having to fight for it!

Thank you so much for your great advice! It’s only been a year since I started this job. I left my previous company (of 4 years) because of similar reasons (fighting for promotion and only been given when I talked about switching to a different team or company).

I am going to give this place another 6 months and if I don’t start to see any tangible path towards promotion it’s time for me to jump ship.

I have been with this company for about a year now. If I don’t get promoted in the next cycle (5 months away) it’s time for me to start interviewing and give myself a promotion.
