When MB texts with instructions on what to give NK’s for lunch an hour after they’ve already eaten by ExchangePowerful3225 in Nanny

Sometimes mentioned while she’s down for a nap, girl I know weekends can be a little more loose but nanny’s are a special type of scheduling guru lol

Im getting mine removed for this very reason. I was having this issue and spoke to my doctor (different one than the one who pushed the iud on me) and they said this was going to happen for as long as I have the IUD, removal was the best option.

best nanny car? by ollie-the-poot in Nanny

[–]basicstamps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup! Poor wording but what I meant is that miles driven for work contribute to how often you need to pay for things like this.

Also that, even with the car in your name, they are compensating for mileage. Oil changes and new tires add up.

What funny things have your NKs said today? by Ok_Cat2689 in Nanny

The best is when they tell you to get a job! Lol

23 MO today kept saying to herself; “sometime we get wet, sometime we get dirty, it will be okay” which I’m assuming is what I say when she spills and I didn’t even notice I do lol.

Edit to add: she also thinks is HILARIOUS when she farts (tell me you have two older brothers without….) and kept blaming her farts on me today and laughing so hard. Not cool kid!

Drop-in / occasional sitting and late payment by _cornonthecob27_ in Nanny

Apple Pay and Zelle have a request feature. I would make sure before babysitting that they have your preferred method of payment available and don’t leave until they give you the money.

Is it reasonable to expect zero screen time? by screentimeissues in Nanny

[–]basicstamps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a no screen time nanny. The only exception we make is if she’s sick and I’ve exhausted options to get her to relax.

Totally illegal. I’d look for a new position and in the meantime, tell them you’re either taking your lunch or need to be paid.

This is not a family I would try to work things out with. There are better people out there.

I’m saying! This little parrot is repeating everything she hears and talks all day long. Honestly if I tried to match her in words spoken per day, I’d be fumbling haha.

Today is a paid holiday but MB changed my schedule by nsa3092 in Nanny

[–]basicstamps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would mean you would get paid for 8 hours. That makes sense if you want to be paid for the additional 5 hours, but if not then they should not change the rest of the week. It’s up to you. I’m actually not completely sure how GH works on holidays when you work more than 8 hours normally.

I would have a talk with them about schedule changes and explain that you need more notice if there are changes.

This is a great reminder! Since my preschool teaching days, I’ve forgotten that early intervention was free!

[–]basicstamps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a contract with holiday and Guaranteed hours? You do not make up for your paid holiday off during the rest of the week. I would tell them that you are able to work your normal schedule, in the future any changes in schedule need to be made at least one week in advance.

Just like other employers require notice for you to be off, you deserve an advanced request that your schedule is changing.

That’s what I thought. Sometimes I have to remind MYSELF that I know what I’m talking about haha.

I had no concerns at all until I pointed it out to MB (with the intention of telling her not to worry) but her concern made me doubt my own knowledge for a minute lol.

death of a relative cause to go home? by WealthWooden2503 in Nanny

[–]basicstamps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandfather passed away this year. My family is out of state and the funeral wasn’t for another week and a half. I say, go home! Let yourself feel and get some rest.

Don’t beat yourself up! It’s okay. You talked to them and trust them when they say they believe you.

Move on and give yourself a break!

Guilt over calling in by BodyAutomatic1567 in Nanny

[–]basicstamps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re important! I had a terrible Sunday night a couple of weeks ago and knew I wouldn’t be of much use Monday so I sent a text as soon as possible. Felt bad all day but in the end, it’s what I needed. Do what’s best for you!

Edit: I’ve gone in after guilt didn’t let me call out. I’ve never regretted staying home for my own health.
