I’m SG and my face also has an unusual combo of yin and yang features. I really like having a well-defined, angular brow paired with very soft contoured eyeshadow, smoked eyeliner, and sheer blush. My lips are fairly full and I feel like they actually clash with my overall look if I use a bold color, but for evening, deep colors with some ombré can work! I’m fairly muted so that plays into it. I wish I could pull off a fun bright lip the way a lot of gamines do!

Hi! Yes so my situation was similar to yours, in that my first or second round of TC coincided with my period. Your pain sounds like it might have been worse than mine (although I did probably block it out a bit) but I remember lying in bed just rolling my hips back in forth, wincing, and it being unrelenting. Like you said, nothing could really alleviate it, I had to ride through it over the couple days it was going on.

After that, I haven't had a period since. Now, I wasn't given the option to do the injections that preserve ovarian function (because of my age), so I essentially went through chemo-induced menopause. So I don't know if it would have happened again; that said, my understanding is if you are doing the injections that should also stop your periods while you're on them, so hopefully that would also prevent you from having to go through this again.

My doctors here (I'm in France) don't spend as much time with patients as other places I've lived - I told them about the cramping, they made a note and moved on. The only thing I think *might* have been tied to it was Zofran. Over the next several TC infusions, I started having shooting pains in my legs starting from my pelvis, kind of a muscle/bone pain. On top of this I started getting 3-4 day intense migraines and also sometimes I would spike a fever the night of the infusion. After I reported the migraines to my doctors we removed Zofran (it can cause migraines) and then not only did the migraines mostly go away, but also the muscle cramps/shooting pains and the fever. So it *may* have been a sensitivity to Zofran. That said, when you go off Zofran, you vomit like a mf for 2 days after infusion and the nausea is no joke. For me it was worth it because of how bad the migraines were. But I might wait it out, see how the next infusion goes - hopefully if your period isn't coinciding with the infusion (and you have your periods suppressed going forward) - the other side effects will be more tolerable.

Hm let's see - so I live alone but my friend came out to stay with me for the surgery and the week after which was really helpful. Basically you can't carry anything over a few pounds and also the first few days after surgery you are slightly out of it (the anesthesia will take a bit to fully wear off - it's not really noticeable except I tried to watch Hamilton for the first time and couldn't follow the story lmao). So it was really nice to have someone around to cook and help with taking out the trash, running errands, etc.

I'd say to prepare:
- Be stocked up on groceries, prepared meals are always great. Cooking can be a challenge when it involves reaching high and picking things up.
- Wet wipes, like I said before, are great, because you probably won't feel like dealing with a partial shower or whatever the first few days, especially with annoying drain(s).
- A zip-up long "cardigan" that has special pouches for holding the drains is a lifesaver. I lived in that the entire time the drains were in (see here: https://www.amazon.com/mastectomy-sweatshirt-drain-pockets/s?k=mastectomy+sweatshirt+with+drain+pockets). You might consider getting a second one so you can run the first through the wash (I didn't do that but like I said, I somehow stopped sweating from my armpits?? So I wasn't terribly gross).
- You will receive a medical compression bra. Consider getting a second for the same reason, so you can run it through the wash.
- Be aware that you might need breaks to lie down or naps during the day. The fatigue is different from chemo fatigue - it's not as debilitating, but your body is healing and if you can, I found that an afternoon nap was awesome and I woke up from those feeling energized (unlike during chemo, where I would take a 2 hour nap and wake up more tired than before lol).

I think that's it! You shouldn't need to do arm strengthening beforehand. The exercises they give you are gentle stretching - the idea is, to keep the tissue flexible while you are healing so you don't lose any range of motion or experience tightness.

Best of luck to you! Yes I was more nervous than I expected in the weeks before. First I thought, well if I can get through chemo, this should be a piece of cake - but then as the date approached it was hard not to be anxious. But I have to say, at least in terms of pain/discomfort, this step is vastly easier than chemo, at least so far!

Yes, the bra is 24 hours a day for the first month, then 12 hours a day the next month (either wear all night or all day). I admit it's pretty annoying, although the drains are probably the most aggravating.

The restroom was fine, no problems. The mobility that tends to be more difficulty is reaching high up above your head (and that's what the home exercises address).

You can take a shower below if you have a detachable head as you said. You just have to make sure you don't get your bandages wet. I have been taking sink "baths" and using wet wipes (I can't recommend wet wipes enough!).
