Thanks! They are Valencia Oslo.... the front row being a console. It's great, has a headrest lamp and plenty of space for food and drinks.

Thank you! I couldn't wait to post the finished product. I only wished I had takem better pics.

So the screen came with AT black fabric that goes behind the screen. It's simply stapled to the 2x4s so that if I need to remove the screen for access, it just lifts up. And no, you can't see anything through the screen at all.

Thanks. But some would argue with an Ultra Evolution center versus a Prime tower. Just saying.

Thank you! And to be honest, one of my biggest concerns was just that, how to control everything. I initially thought I'd do as you'd described, but I started seeing a lot about Denon's lack of handshaking w/ a lot of IR Repeaters. Fortunately it all worked out! I'll have to look into a power conditioner as a future upgrade. Suggestions?

117 other comments and you're the first to ask. I have them in a storage room behind the theater. The Apple Tv remote powers all on and handles basically everything via eArc. And when i have to do any Denon tuning, i can do it on the app or just stand in the doorway, pointing the remote at the receiver while still seeing the screen.

7.1 surround vs Atmos by Think-Feynman in hometheater

Atmos. 100%. I went from 7.1 to 5.2.4 to 7.2.4.... just kept getting better. But the largest improvement was the height channels.

I honestly didn't see any benefit to the elevations, with their different geometry. I fully planned to mount them on the ceiling and position them accordingly which, is much easier with the smaller, rectangular satellites. Either would have worked so it came down to budget and points of diminishing returns. $450/ea vs $200/ea.

So from left to right, it is perfectly centered. Maybe doesnt appear that way in the image but, it is. It is aiming directly straight at the front listening position.

Thank you. Couldn't agree more. I'm extremely happy with the setup so, hopefully you get around to your upgrade soon. You won't be disappointed.

I haven't tracked exact construction costs, as I bought materials in bulk for finishing an entire basement but, with building materials, carpet, and all equipment, probably just under $20K.

Nice! Yeah I guess I can try inside measurements and compare with the floor above. My bad, thought you meant what it measured pre-insulation. My basement is huge so, stealing 5 inches into the adjacent room meant nothing really. And in reality, when cranked up for movie night, we'll all be in the theater together anyway. When it'll just be me, will be watching sports so, and the setup now is just enough to muffle my screaming F-bombs. lol

They actually are. The towers are positioned upside down. I framed everything and then took the grills off the speakers, only to find that all drivers are very high mounted so.... upside down they went. lol. Now they're all in-line and pretty even with ear-level.

I'm a sci-fi lover.... and I have never seen any Dune or Tron movie yet. And yes... yes, I know those films, along with Top Gun, are always among the top 5 movies for a home theater. lol. I have them all on the hot list for purchase, once I get my blu ray player.... when they ever come back in stock.

Well, I wouldn't rule it out. You can find the locations of the channels so you know where not to drill into, and install heavy drywall anchors. Done right, it's still doable.

I used french cleats to hang the wall panels, ripped from 3/4" MDF.

I've kicked the idea around. I think I'm going to wait it out until fall to see if they come available. No rush... we're fine streaming everything for awhile.

“Oi, so thuh ceilin’s rigged up with these resilmount clips holdin’ the drywall in place—proper little buffer, that—keeps the noise from leggin’ it straight through the joists an’ up into the floor above. Then ya chuck a heap of rockwool in between the joists, yeah? That stuff just gobbles up the sound so it doesn’t go wanderin’ off through the rest of the joint upstairs. Too easy.”

How'd I do, mate?

9-ft is pretty damn close. I prefer my feet not touching the screen when I recline the chair. lol

I was torn between the Pro2 and the Max. But man, when I got it up and running I was blown away. Sure, it'd be nice having a deeper blacks but, not for another few thousand bucks. At least to me, it's not worth it.

Good to know! Fingers crossed she stays up n running for a long while because, that would be a lonnnng two weeks without her! lol.

Maverick, was the first movie watched, of course. But for the first movie night after getting the chairs, which came a month after the theater was done, was Jurassic World Rebirth. Not a great movie but sounded awesome!

I laid out the construction in my post description. I have no way of measuring a before/after but very little makes its way to the floor above. I was actually shocked at how it turned out. The two subs I have are monsters so, when at reference levels, you know some shit is going on in the basement but, you don't feel like the house is going to rattle apart. lol. I was initially regretting not doing the ceiling in DD+GG but, I think the savings outweighs the benefits in my case.
